SWIM TEAM: Please turn in your warm up suits (jacket & pants) this week. You may turn them into Mrs. Dianna in the office or Coach Sara at Alma Spikes.

Any student who wants to showcase their art or photography in the yearbook, please submit it to hope.barnes@smail.pocahontaspsd.com

FFA Officer Applications will be available on March 15th and must be turned in by March 31st.

Pocahontas Public Schools will conduct parent/teacher conferences for students, in grades K-6 only, on Thursday, March 16, 2017. Parents are encouraged to meet with their child's teacher(s) between the hours of 3:30 p.m. through 7:30 p.m. Because of the conferences, school will be dismissed early for all students that day.. Alma Spikes Elementary walkers will be dismissed at 1:55 p.m and bus students at 2:10 p.m. All other students in grades 3-12 will be dismissed at 2:25 p.m. Lunches will be served. Classes will resume on the regular schedule Friday, March 17, 2017.

Jammin In The Jungle Basketball Tournament March 31st thru April 1st

Applications are being accepted for the St. Bernards Medical Center Jr. Volunteer Program. The program allows students (ages 15 – 18) an opportunity to volunteer in a hospital setting where they will explore careers and gain experience in helping others. Participants will gain hands on experience in surgery, laboratory, nursing, radiology, rehabilitative services, exercise science, pharmacy and more! It will be a three-week session where we will accept 15 students into the program. The session will be held from July 7th-28th. Applications may be picked up in the nurse's office. They are due by Friday, May 5th.

Driver's Education Class Sign ups - Students must have a Driver's Permit in order to take the class. Only 6 seats available. First come/first serve. Must have $200.00 check (check can be dated May 25th) to place name on list and Driver's Permit. Sign up in PJHS Office. Classes will be May 25th, 26th, 30th, 31st and June 1st. (8:00 - 5:00 p.m. )

HISTORY CLUB will meet on Mondays during lunch.

FFA members on AG Mechanics & Electricity teams meet Tuesdays & Thursdays with Mr. Hogan @ 3:30

NHS will meet every Tuesday @12:20 to discuss fundraising and activities.

Anyone interested in Chess Club see Mrs. Miller on Wednesdays. Chess practice will be Wednesdays at noon in her room at junior high.

S.W.A.T. will meet every Wednesday in Mrs. Baty’s room at lunch… Bring your lunch.

KEY CLUB will meet every Wednesday in Mr. James’ room at lunch

DRAMA CLUB MEETING DURING LUNCH EVERY WEDNESDAY

Mr. Miller will be offering tutoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays before school or directly after school. Please make sure to let him know if you will be attending. Students can also stop by his room during 4th hour, if needed.

Mrs. Henderson will be offering tutoring at 7:00 a.m. in her classroom on TUESDAYS. She will have a chrome cart available.

REMINDER: Students are to sign in and out of the office when they come onto and leave campus any time other than the first bell at 7:50 a.m. Students who have classes on the BRTC campus are to sign in and out at the office according to their schedule.

REMINDER: Students are not to sit in their vehicles once they arrive on campus. Once you are parked you must exit your vehicle and come into the building.

ALL students who drive and park on our campus must have a current hang tag.

WEDNESDAY

The Pocahontas FFA Chapter Competes at District Contest this week at ASU Jonesboro. Please wish them luck as they try and qualify for state competition.

Senior girls and boys track pictures for the yearbook will be taken at 12:00 today. Wear red warm ups and meet by the steps in front of the cafeteria.

Bus training @ 10:00 a.m. Students will be called by intercom.

Sgt. Brooks with the Marines will be in Mrs. Hogan's office to visit with students from 12:00 - 12:25…. Stop in to talk with him if you have any questions about the Marines.

Congratulations Claire & Olivia Shepherd !!! They will sign with WBC to swim @ 1:00 in the gym…. Release the swim team, Nicole Throesch, Sarah Helms, Allyson Tyler, Kalyn Brooks, Abbey Wilson, Autumn Doney, Emily Kester, Mallory Wilson and Dakota Hayes @ 12:55 for the signing.

Josten’s will be here at 8:30 - Senior Order Delivery… We have a list of balances in the office if you need to check.

Seniors will be called to the gym @ 9:00 for a senior class picture for yearbook. Seniors will stay in the gym for the pep rally. An all call will be made to release the seniors.

Pep Rally @ 9:15 … then we will send off the girls’ to state @ 9:30…. PEP BAND is released at 8:45

Redskins (V/JV-3) vs Piggott (HOME) @ 4:00… release players at 2:50

Ready Set Graduate (Seniors)

The Crowley's Ridge Classic Livestock Show will take place March 10th-11th. FFA members will be competing on Friday and Saturday. Good Luck FFA members !!!.

Redskin Baseball will play in the Cedar Ridge Tournament Friday night as originally planned. No game on Saturday. Please dismiss the players at 3:00.

SATURDAY

Lady Redskins Basketball vs Pottsville in the State Finals @ 6:00 at Hot Springs Convention Center! Good Luck Ladies!!! We are proud of you !

A pep bus will be taken to Hot Springs IF we can get a minimum of 20 students going. The deadline to sign up is noon Thursday. Students MUST purchase tickets for the game by noon Friday and may be purchased from Mrs. Dianna in the office. The bus will go directly to and from the game and will only stop for bathroom breaks as necessary. Students should have money to eat concessions at the game as the bus will not stop to eat.

March 13th (Monday) - Starburst NIGHT performances from 6-8 pm @ MD Williams. Cost for admission for the night show is $2 for students and $4 for adults. PHS- students will attend Starburst at 8:30 am on Tuesday, March 14th. Admission is $1. PJHS students will attend Starburst at 1:00.

March 16th - Parent/Teacher Conferences K-6th grade only 3:30 - 7:30. School will be dismissed early for all students. PJHS & PHS students will be dismissed at 2:25.

ALL STUDENTS: The Northeast Arkansas Wounded Warriors Group is offering a $1000 scholarship this spring - the application can be found on their facebook page. Any student that is the child, spouse, sibling, or grandchild of a veteran and receives college credit may apply. Deadline for applying is April 7th.

There is a new Senior List posted on the bulletin board across from the office. PLEASE CHECK it to be sure your name is spelled correctly. This is how it will be listed on your diploma.
