Wednesday, August 16th

GENERAL NEWS

Students needing lockers or parking tags should come to the office between classes or during lunch.  

Students needing schedule changes should come to the office to fill out a request.  Mrs. Hogan will pick up the requests and call students to her office.  If students need to meet with Mrs. Hogan regarding other matters please sign your name on the Counselor’s Appointment List in the office. She will call students as she gets to them.

Please DO NOT remove the wood shelves from lockers.

Students should park in the class designated areas.  Your hang tag must be hung from the rearview mirror with the number showing through the front windshield.

***Senior parking areas are the front row in front of the building and the row between the main         building and business building.

*** Junior parking is in the lot beside the business building.

*** Sophomore parking is the row between the softball and baseball fields.

Students are to pull forward into parking spots.  Do not back into parking spots.  In the Junior parking area vehicles are to be nose to nose… do not pull through parking spots.

St. Bernards is currently accepting applications for the Patient Ambassador Program.  Applications are due September 15th.  This program allows students (ages 15-18) an opportunity to volunteer in a hospital setting where they will explore areas of healthcare and gain experience in helping others.  It will be a year-round program allowing them to fulfill any of their needed community service hours or graduation requirements.  Applications may be picked up in the nurse’s office.

Any 9-12 grade boy interested in signing up for baseball needs to sign up in either the Sr.High office or on the sheet in Coach Eddington's window in Junior High Hall before Friday August 18th.

Coach Hampton is looking for a student to do the endzone filming for the football games.  This will require someone to be present at ALL football games both home and away, so you must be able to travel with the football team.  You will be need to film on Thursday and Friday nights for all of the season.  If anyone is interested please see Coach Hampton as soon as possible.  

WEDNESDAY

Sophomore Class Meeting 2nd period.  Go to your 2nd hour teacher to turn in your folder if you have not already done so and then go to the PHS cafeteria.  Students who have turned their folders in should go directly to the cafeteria.   

Student Council will meet during lunch in Mr. Phelps room.

All schedule changes will be completed today.

Red folder forms are due by the end of the day today!  Those students who have 2nd period classes at Jr. High will turn their folders into their teachers there.

THURSDAY

SWIM TEAM:  There will be an informational meeting for anyone interested in joining the high school swim team today at 7:30 a.m. in the athletic complex.  If you are unable to attend please contact Sara Frazier at Alma Spikes @ sara.frazier@pocahontaspsd.com

Golf match vs Marmaduke/Westside (B & G)  @ HOME at 3:30

FRIDAY

Senior Class Meeting 2nd period.  Students go directly to the PHS cafeteria after 1st hour.

UPCOMING EVENTS

August 21st -  The solar eclipse occurs today and will be in our area beginning at 11:49 a.m. and ending at 2:47 p.m.  We will not have outside viewings of the eclipse.  However, we will provide exposure through a variety of learning activities which may include video coverage via NASA’s website and/or the district’s Live Streaming capabilities.

August 22nd - FFA Back to School Cook-Out at the Pocahontas Aquatic Center from 5 -7 p.m.

August 28th - September 2nd - Randolph County Fair

September 4th - 10th - Delta State Fair

September 5th - 29th - Annual FFA Fruit and Meat Sale.  Please see an advisor or FFA member to purchase.

September 14th - FFA Meeting in the Ag Building @ 4 p.m.
