Homecoming Shirts are on sale now through September 20th….  Shirts  may be purchased from Mr. Phelps in Study Hall or during lunch at  the gym concession stand.  

T-Shirts (white)  are $10 youth small - Adult XL     $12 for 2XL & 3XL

Baseball Style Shirt (White with Red Sleeves)  $15 youth small - Adult XL      $17 for 2XL & 3XL

REMINDER to Students & Staff:  If students arrive on campus after the tardy bell at 8:00 a.m. they are to check in at the office.  Students should have a tardy slip/pass from the office if they come into class after the bell; if not send them to the office to sign in.

GENERAL NEWS

St. Bernards is currently accepting applications for the Patient Ambassador Program.  Applications are due September 15th.  This program allows students (ages 15-18) an opportunity to volunteer in a hospital setting where they will explore areas of healthcare and gain experience in helping others.  It will be a year-round program allowing them to fulfill any of their needed community service hours or graduation requirements.  Applications may be picked up in the nurse’s office.

Tutoring has begun: Math (Steimel, Helms, Murray) on Tuesday and Thursday each week. Literacy with Mrs. Bass (includes all other areas) on Tuesday and Thursday each week. Tutoring is in the after school from 3:30-4:30.

***Please remember to use caution when walking to and from buildings.  Students should use the crosswalks especially of the mornings and the afternoons when traffic is the busiest.  Drivers please use caution and be aware of students walking around campus.

CLUB NEWS

FFA - If you are wanting to compete in the Tractor Driving Contest at the District Fair please see Mr. Hogan for information.

FBLA -  There has been some confusion on who could and could not join FBLA this year.  The state has informed us that any student who has had Keyboard that wants to join FBLA may do so.  I will extend the deadline out to Wednesday, September 20th for anyone who wants to join.

The History Club will be meeting on Tuesday/Thursday/Friday until homecoming to work on our float.  All members need to attend as often as possible.

S.W.A.T. will meet on every Tuesday in Mrs. Baty's room.  Everyone is invited.  You can bring your lunch.

Key Club  meets every Wednesday in Mr. James Room (#19)

PHS National Honor Society will meet at lunch on Thursday in Mrs. Murray's room to discuss upcoming events. Members, feel free to bring your lunch!!

SENIOR NEWS

Seniors remember to check your email often for news and updates pertinent to you.

PROJECT GRADUATION MEETING:  September 24th at 2:30 pm in the High School Cafeteria. All seniors and parents are encouraged to attend.

Important information in your email  regarding A-State and ACT scores for consideration of admission and consideration for institutional scholarships.

Remember as you are applying to attend post-secondary schools you must complete a PHS Transcript and Records Release Form to schools you are considering.  Mrs. Hogan has attached this document and sent to your email account.

UALR Discover days this year will be:  Friday, October 13 is the first Discover, our premiere preview day.  Friday, November 3 is the second Discover.  If you plan to attend see Mrs. Dianna for a college day form in the office.

Razorback Connections will be held on October 18th in Jonesboro from 6-7:30 pm. This is an event for any senior considering attending the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville who may be unable to visit the campus. Please see Mrs. Stewart (career coach) for registration information.

U of A New Freshman Scholarships - NOVEMBER 1 - Priority Admissions Deadline: Complete an admissions application and request a scholarship application on the general admissions form, submit transcripts, and send test scores to the office of admissions by this date.

UALR has announced their scholarship deadline this year as:  Friday, December 1st.  

Seniors you must apply and submit  prior to the deadline.

News from the Counselor…

Students planning to take the October 28th ACT are reminded registration deadline is September 22nd.  Information for registering is on Mrs. Hogan's webpage.

Enter the Breakthrough Junior Challenge for a chance to win a $250,000 scholarship…. See your email for details. The deadline for submission is October 1, 2017.

“A Day in the Life” programs (Variety & Nurse) programs hosted by UAMS in Jonesboro information is in your email. Application date November 29th.

FRIDAY

Pep Rally at 9:00… students go to class to take attendance then teachers release.  Band members are to be released at 8:45.

St. Bernard’s Patient Ambassador applications due today.

Tornado Drill - 5th period

DUTY TEACHERS - Today is the last day band members are allowed to go to the band room at lunch without a note.

There will be a Jr Class meeting regarding Homecoming today at 12 in Mrs. Bass's room. Please bring your lunch!

Interact meeting today during the last half of lunch in Mr. Kazzee’s room.  Anyone interested in joining should come to sign up and dues ($10) need to be paid.  

FFA students wanting to order a  T-Shirt need to bring their money and sign the T-Shirt List at the same time to get a shirt.  The member must have paid and signed the sheet by September 15th.

October 4th - College Application Day for Seniors with Career Coach Lindsey Stewart.  Drop in at PHS Library.

October 26th -  The health department will be here to administer flu shots.  Consent forms will be sent home during the month of October.  Please see the nurse with any questions.

October 30th - FAFSA Nite with BRTC for Seniors 6-7 p.m.
