The band room is closed to students during lunch, unless a student has a note signed by a band director with permission to be there.

PARKING REMINDER: Students are not to park at the athletic complex or the agri building during school hours. Park in your designated class areas.

PROM INFO: Forms for Senior walk may be picked up in Mrs. Casillas room. Please return that, 10 pictures for the Sr video and Prom guest registration form (if applicable) by April 1st.

***All Jrs and Srs attending Prom that are bringing a guest that does not attend Pocahontas High School will need to pick up a Prom registration form located in the basket across from the office. These must be returned by April 1st.

Project Graduation Basketball Tournament April 29th & 30th - All Seniors see Mrs. Inman to sign up to work the tournament.

WEDNESDAY

Anyone interested in trying out for REDSKIN CHEERLEADING should meet on Mrs. Nead's classroom Wednesday, March 16th, at lunch.

Seniors planning to pursue a higher education in the medical field need to see Mrs. Hogan before the end of the day Wednesday to pick up a scholarship application.

THURSDAY

Jostens will be here at 9:30 with seniors graduation orders .Please have balances paid or arrangements made with Jostens. Balance inquiries can be made in the office.

Any student in grade 8-11 who is interested in being on the golf team next year, please meet with Coach Hausman @ 12:15 on Thursday March 17. This meeting will take place in Coach Hausman's room in the junior high.

LINK will have a quick meeting at lunch (12:10). Don't forget to bring your collections for cancer research!

Parent/Teacher Conferences K-6 from 3:30 - 7:30… Alma Spikes walkers/car riders dismissed at 1:55 and bus riders at 2:10…. - Grades 3-12 dismiss at 2:25.

Mrs. Steimel and Mrs. Hall will NOT have tutoring after school this Thursday.

Randolph County Spring Livestock Show Contest at 5:00 p.m. at the Randolph County Fairgrounds.

March 21st - 25th ... Spring Break - Pocahontas Public Schools will be closed for Spring Break Monday, March 21 2016 through Friday, March 25, 2016. Pocahontas Public Schools will resume the regular schedule on Monday, March 28, 2016 for all students.

GENERAL NEWS

FFA Members wanting to run for FFA officer for the 2016-2017 year can pick up an application starting March 7th and the application must be returned and completed by April 4th in order to run for an office.

Any FFA member interested in helping the Trail of Tears Regional Antique Tractor Club Show. Sign up with Mr. Hogan in the Agri building.....

Any FFA member who might want to help with a Pocahontas Community Garden sign up in Mr. Hogan's classroom

DRAMA CLUB MEETING EVERY WEDNESDAY UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

Circle of Friends: If anyone is interested in joining the Circle of Friends, peer applications are available in the office.

FFA Blacksmith metal/art committee meets Wednesdays at lunch in the agri building.

SWAT meetings every Wednesday in Mrs. Baty’s room (Rm 22) at lunch- Bring your lunch!

Math tutoring is available Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday BEFORE SCHOOL (7:00 - 7:50 in Rm 18 - Henderson) and AFTER SCHOOL (3:30 - 4:30 in Rm 26 - Steimel). Literacy and other subjects tutoring is available Tuesday and Thursday after school 3:30 - 4:30 in Rm 24 - Bass.

There are MASH (Medical Applications of Science for Health) applications in the nurse's office. MASH is a special summer enrichment program designed to inform students about health careers and personal health improvement. This program is open to current sophomores and juniors. Students must demonstrate scholastic ability, show a desire to become a team player and have an interest in a health career. The program will take place June 6-16 from 8 am-4 pm. There will be a program at the BRTC campus here in Pocahontas June 20th - 30th. Deadline for application is March 15, 2016.

SENIORS

Be sure to check your email for scholarship opportunities from buickachievers.com, the R. Preston Woodruff Jr. Scholarship

You can now begin applying for federal financial aid to attend post secondary school. To do so follow the link, www.fafsa.ed.gov. Other links to FAFSA are NOT creditable and will charge you for your application.

You may begin applying at www.adhe.edu. for the Arkansas Challenge Scholarship by going to the YoUniversal tab. Those still needing to meet requirements have until June 1st.

Seniors interested in Cosmetology or Nail Technician Program the Arkansas Academy of Hair Design in Jonesboro will be awarding a $1000 scholarship to a deserving student interested in Cosmetology. They will also be offering a $500 scholarship to a deserving Nail Technician. Applications are available in Mrs. Hogan's office. For maximum Scholarship benefits deadline to apply is December 31st. Late submitting deadline is March 15, 2016.

The Windgate Art Scholarship application and information for students planning to major in art and attend UCA in fall 2016 has been sent to your email. Deadline is March 18th.

The 2016 Arkansas School Plant Management Association (ASPMA) Scholarship is now available. The deadline to apply is April 1. To access additional information and the application form check your email.

Seniors are invited to "Show Me Day" at Southeast Missouri State. To schedule your visit go to www.semo.edu/visit. If you plan to attend on a Monday visit you will need to pick up a college day form in the office and then see Mrs. Hogan. Show Me Days are as follows: Saturday - April 2.

ASU -Beebe Hands On Preview Day - Thursday, April 7th…. If you are interested in attending please see Mrs. Hogan or Ms. Crutcher.

The NEA Wounded Warriors will be awarding several scholarships again this year. Graduates of Randolph, Clay, Craighead, Greene, and Lawrence counties may apply if you live in one of the 5 counties and are a relative of a disabled veteran. The application can be downloaded from their Facebook page or by contacting Chad Overman, Danny Barr, or Chris Palmer. Their Facebook page is NEA Wounded Warriors. Deadline for application is April 20th and is to be submitted to Mike Richardson at the Veterans Office on the Square. (Check email sent by Mrs. Hogan on 3/15 for a revised scholarship application)

The "Aspiring Fashion Professional" Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded to students that are interested in pursuing a fashion degree at an accredited post-secondary school or college. Interested students can visit this link www.fashion-schools.org and find the scholarship located at the bottom of the page and click on it. The deadline is June 1, 2016.

The "Aspiring Animation Professional" Scholarship Program is a $1000 scholarship awarded for AnimationCareerReview.com. This will be awarded to students that are interested in pursuing an animation career path at an accredited post-secondary school or college. Visit our website, www.careeranimationreview.com to find eligibility information along with the online application. The scholarship will be on the right side of the page and click on it. The deadline is June 1, 2016.

Nursing Schools Almanac has just launched its second annual Aspiring Nurse Scholarship. They will award a $1,000 scholarship to an aspiring nurse. This scholarship is open to all high school seniors who plan to pursue college education in nursing, including LPN / LVN, ADN, and BSN programs. Scholarship applications will be accepted until midnight on June 30, 2016. They ask interested students to visit www.nursingschoolsalmanac.com and click the banner on the right-hand side of the website's homepage.
