2017 Homecoming Face Tattoos will be on sale Monday through Thursday this week (or while supplies last) They can be purchased during lunch or from Mr. Phelps in Study Hall…. One package contains two tattoos -one of each-  for $5.00…. See flyer posted on bulletin board.

REMINDER to Students & Staff:  If students arrive on campus after the tardy bell at 8:00 a.m. they are to check in at the office.  Students should have a tardy slip/pass from the office if they come into class after the bell; if not send them to the office to sign in.

GENERAL NEWS

STUDENTS:  During the month of October we plan to have ACT Prep Sessions.

In order to plan I need those registered to test to email me by the end of the day Thursday, September 28th.  Please include the areas you need assistance in (ex. English, Reading, Math, Science).  Please include all areas we can help you with.

Tuesdays in October will be College Gear Days. Students and staff, please wear items from the college of your choice!

Yearbooks can be purchased now through September 29th for $35 which includes 4 free icons.  After this date the price will go up.  Yearbooks can be purchased from Ms. Crutcher in Rm 4 or at www.jostensyearbooks.com

Tutoring has begun: Math (Steimel, Helms, Murray) on Tuesday and Thursday each week. Literacy with Mrs. Bass (includes all other areas) on Tuesday and Thursday each week. Tutoring is in the after school from 3:30-4:30.

***Please remember to use caution when walking to and from buildings.  Students should use the crosswalks especially of the mornings and the afternoons when traffic is the busiest.  Drivers please use caution and be aware of students walking around campus.

CLUB NEWS

FFA - ***FFA Members are selling Fruit and Meat until September 29th. If you need to order please ask an FFA member or contact Mr. Washburn.  FFA Fruit and Meat sale Money and flyer will be due on Tuesday October 3rd.  

***Any FFA member wanting to go to Pumpkin Hollow need to sign up for this trip by October 4th in Mr. Washburn's Room.  

***Any FFA Member wanting to work on the FFA homecoming float will need to meet after school this week check with Mr. Hogan and Mr. Washburn.  

LINK meetings are every Monday in Mrs. Moffett's room from 12:10-12:30. Contact Mrs.Cox for more details.

The History Club will be meeting on Tuesday/Thursday/Friday until homecoming to work on our float.  All members need to attend as often as possible.

S.W.A.T. will meet on every Tuesday in Mrs. Baty's room.  Everyone is invited.  You can bring your lunch.

Key Club  meets every Wednesday in Mr. James Room (#19)

PHS National Honor Society will meet at lunch on Thursday in Mrs. Murray's room to discuss upcoming events. Members, feel free to bring your lunch!!

Senior Pictures are Due January 8th, 2018.  Seniors may submit a senior picture or use their composite.

Important information in your email  regarding A-State and ACT scores for consideration of admission and consideration for institutional scholarships.

Scholarship Registration from the Thea Foundation is open.  See your email for details.

Remember as you are applying to attend post-secondary schools you must complete a PHS Transcript and Records Release Form to schools you are considering.  Mrs. Hogan has attached this document and sent to your email account.

NHS Scholarship program opens October 6th… application deadline is January 30, 2018.  

UALR Discover days this year will be:  Friday, October 13 is the first Discover, our premiere preview day.  Friday, November 3 is the second Discover.  If you plan to attend see Mrs. Dianna for a college day form in the office.

Razorback Connections will be held on October 18th in Jonesboro from 6-7:30 pm. This is an event for any senior considering attending the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville who may be unable to visit the campus. Please see Mrs. Stewart (career coach) for registration information.

College Fair at Williams Baptist College on October 25th.  Students MUST pre-register and complete the consent to travel form and return to Mrs. Hogan or Mrs. Stewart  by end of the day October 16th. Late forms will NOT be accepted.

U of A New Freshman Scholarships - NOVEMBER 1 - Priority Admissions Deadline: Complete an admissions application and request a scholarship application on the general admissions form, submit transcripts, and send test scores to the office of admissions by this date.

 

U of A New Freshman Scholarships - NOVEMBER 15 - Priority Scholarship Deadline: Submit a scholarship application by this date for priority consideration for academic scholarships

UALR has announced their scholarship deadline this year as:  Friday, December 1st.  Seniors you must apply and submit  prior to the deadline.

News from the Counselor…

Enter the Breakthrough Junior Challenge for a chance to win a $250,000 scholarship…. See your email for details. The deadline for submission is October 1, 2017.

PHS NHS: If you want to walk or ride in the parade with NHS, you MUST sign the roster in Mrs. Steimel's room (On the Chromebook Cart:) !! Also, Remember to get your permissions slips for the bus to your first hour teacher!!

Any FFA member wanting to ride on the FFA Homecoming float needs to work on the homecoming float after school on Wednesday and Thursday starting at 4 PM.

FRIDAY

RED & WHITE DAY

HOMECOMING CORONATION will begin @ 12:30.  The parade will start following the crowning ceremony beginning in front of PHS and down to PJHS/MD circle.  The parade will route down Park Street to Alma Spikes and then down Thomasville where it will end and the PRE-GAME PEP RALLY will be on the courthouse lawn!

Football vs Harrisburg @ 7:00 - HOMECOMING NIGHT with Homecoming Queen and Court Presentation beginning at 6:30.

HOMECOMING DANCE will be held in the High School courtyard following the football game beginning at 9 p.m. and ending at midnight.  Admission is free for PHS students grades in grades 9-12 and their dates.  A photo area will be provided for students wanting to take pictures, however, professional pictures will not be taken.

UPCOMING EVENTS

September 5th - 29th - Annual FFA Fruit and Meat Sale.  Please see an advisor or FFA member to purchase.

September 29th - Homecoming Dance - Begins after the game and ends at 11:30 p.m. It is for PHS students in grades 10-12 and their dates (who must be signed up by 9/22/17 if they are in grades 9-12 from another school district or out of school and 20 years or age or younger).

October 3rd - Josten’s will be here for preview of Senior Graduation orders @ 8:00 a.m. in the cafeteria

October 4th - College Application Day for Seniors with Career Coach Lindsey Stewart.  Drop in at PHS Library.

October 10th - Josten’s will be here to take Senior Graduation orders @ 8:00 a.m. in the cafeteria.

October 12th - Senior composite make ups @ 8:00 a.m. in the Student Center

October 26th -  The health department will be here to administer flu shots.  Consent forms will be sent home during the month of October.  Please see the nurse with any questions.

October 30th - FAFSA Nite with BRTC for Seniors 6-7 p.m.
