Student Council has a few extra Homecoming t-shirts for sale!!! They will be on sale in between classes in study hall….. Short sleeve $10.00  and Baseball tee $15.00

GENERAL NEWS

Special Olympics T-shirts are now on sale !  Order forms are available by the bulletin board in the main hall.  Orders should be returned to Mrs. Tabitha Phelps or Mrs. Courtney Throesch by October 23rd.

HAPPY ROCK HUNTING:  The cafeteria is hiding rocks on campus each week during the month of October!  Find any of these rocks and return to PHS cafeteria for a free item.  Please turn in the rocks when you find them so we can continue hiding them each week.  

Tuesdays in October will be College Gear Days. Students and staff, please wear items from the college of your choice!

Yearbooks can be purchased from Ms. Crutcher in Rm 4 or at www.jostensyearbooks.com

Tutoring has begun: Math (Steimel, Helms, Murray) on Tuesday and Thursday each week. Literacy with Mrs. Bass (includes all other areas) on Tuesday and Thursday each week. Tutoring is in the after school from 3:30-4:30.

REMINDER to Students & Staff:  If students arrive on campus after the tardy bell at 8:00 a.m. they are to check in at the office.  Students should have a tardy slip/pass from the office if they come into class after the bell; if not send them to the office to sign in.

***Please remember to use caution when walking to and from buildings.  Students should use the crosswalks especially of the mornings and the afternoons when traffic is the busiest.  Drivers please use caution and be aware of students walking around campus.

CLUB NEWS

FFA -  Any FFA Member wanting to show animals in the spring or fall needs to see Mr. Washburn by October 31st.  

LINK meetings are every Monday in Mrs. Moffett's room from 12:10-12:30. Contact Mrs.Cox for more details.

S.W.A.T. will meet on every Tuesday in Mrs. Baty's room.  Everyone is invited.  You can bring your lunch.

Key Club  meets every Wednesday in Mr. James Room (#19)

PHS National Honor Society will meet at lunch on Thursday in Mrs. Murray's room to discuss upcoming events. Members, feel free to bring your lunch!!

SENIOR NEWS

Seniors remember to check your email often for news and updates pertinent to you.

Seniors are reminded that permission slips to attend the College Fair are due in Mrs. Hogan's office Monday, October 16th.  These are needed to determine the number of buses needed to request.  I have attached the permission slip for you or you may get one from the career coach or myself.   Also, before the College Fair on the 25th you must register at www.gotocollegefairs.com.  

Project Graduation flyers regarding the upcoming Haunted House have been handed out in English classes.  A sign up sheet for seniors to work on the houses is in the office.  Don’t forget the PG meeting this coming Sunday at 2:30 in the PHS Cafeteria.

Pictures and Write-Ups for Senior Ads are Due November 27th.  Ads can be purchased through Ms. Crutcher (Rm 4), any yearbook staffer, through the ReplayIt App or www.jostensadservices.com

Senior Pictures are Due January 8th, 2018.  Seniors may submit a senior picture or use their composite.

Remember as you are applying to attend post-secondary schools you must complete a PHS Transcript and Records Release Form to schools you are considering.  Mrs. Hogan has attached this document and sent to your email account.

Important information in your email  regarding A-State and ACT scores for consideration of admission and consideration for institutional scholarships.

Scholarship Registration from the Thea Foundation is open.  See your email for details.

Razorback Connections will be held on October 18th in Jonesboro from 6-7:30 pm. This is an event for any senior considering attending the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville who may be unable to visit the campus. Please see Mrs. Stewart (career coach) for registration information.

College Fair at Williams Baptist College on October 25th.  Students MUST pre-register and complete the consent to travel form and return to Mrs. Hogan or Mrs. Stewart  by end of the day October 16th. Late forms will NOT be accepted.

U of A New Freshman Scholarships - NOVEMBER 1 - Priority Admissions Deadline: Complete an admissions application and request a scholarship application on the general admissions form, submit transcripts, and send test scores to the office of admissions by this date.

U of A New Freshman Scholarships - NOVEMBER 15 - Priority Scholarship Deadline: Submit a scholarship application by this date for priority consideration for academic scholarships

UALR has announced their scholarship deadline this year as:  Friday, December 1st.  Seniors you must apply and submit  prior to the deadline.

ACT Student Champion Award - applications can be found at www.act.org/readinesschampions and are due December 31, 2017.  Questions directed to ccrc@act.org.

NHS Scholarship program opens October 6th… application deadline is January 30, 2018.

“A Day in the Life” programs (Variety & Nurse) programs hosted by UAMS in Jonesboro information is in your email. Application due date November 29th.

October 16th - Teacher Cadets: Meeting at 11:45 in PHS Library - Bring your Lunch! (You must have signed up earlier and be in the Teacher Cadet Google Classroom with Mrs. Grooms) Please have assignment completed when you come to the meeting.

October 17th - Fire Drill - 3rd period

October 17th - Parent Teacher Conferences for students in grades 7-9 from 3:30- 7:30.  No early dismissal.

October 19th - Senior composite make ups @ 8:00 a.m. in the Student Center

October 19th - Parent Teacher Conferences for students in grades K-6 and 10-12 from 3:30- 7:30.  No early dismissal.

October 20th - No School for Fall Break

October 22 - Project Graduation will begin setting up Haunted House fundraiser, seniors and parents are needed to help make this a successful event.

October 24th - University of Arkansas visit 11:30-12:30 in Student Center Lobby

October 24th - School picture retakes

October 26th -  The health department will be here to administer flu shots.  Consent forms will be sent home during the month of October.  Please see the nurse with any questions.

October 30th - FAFSA Nite with BRTC for Seniors 6-7 p.m.

November 1st -  ASVAB test in the Library 8 -11:30…. Respond to invitation sent by Mrs. Hogan to sign up.
