SENIOR REMINDER: Please remember to return all classroom books and materials and library books. If you owe lunch charges, library dues, Josten’s order or sitting fees please get those paid as soon as possible. Also be sure to clean out your locker before you leave.

Josten’s Senior Orders (cap & gown/announcements) are in the office - Balances must be paid in full before pickup.

Senior T-shirts: Mrs. Casillas has some extra T-shirts to sell ($15). Please see her if you’d like to purchase one.

Senior Pictures for Slide Show: Please pick up the pictures you submitted for the slide show in Mrs. Casillas’ room ASAP.

Class officer petitions are available to any student who wishes to run for office. The forms are due back to Mr. Phelps no later than noon on Wednesday May 4. Elections will be held Friday May 6.

LIBRARY BOOKS: The last day to check out books will be Friday, May 13th and they are due Friday, May 20th.


AP English Lit Testing

Mrs. Hogan will have a meeting for all students interested in attending the ACT Summer Prep Program at 11:30 in the library today. This meeting is very important for students that are interested.

Senior Testing - Periods 6th & 7th… Seniors are to attend school through the time of testing May 4th - 6th. Make-up testing schedules for seniors should be scheduled through individual teachers.

Class Officer Petitions are available for the 2016-2017 school year. Petitions may be picked up across from the office and due no later than Wednesday, May 4 at 12:00 noon to Mr. Phelps. Any current junior or sophomore interested in running for President, Vice President, Secretary or Treasurer of your class, must complete this form. Elections will take place Friday, May 6 during lunch.

LINK officers will meet for a working lunch. We will complete the constitution. Please make every effort to attend.

AP Calculus Testing

Senior Testing - Periods 3rd, 4th & 5th… Seniors are to attend school through the time of testing May 4th - 6th. Make-up testing schedules for seniors should be scheduled through individual teachers.

Lady Redskins Softball will play at 3:00 at Lonoke in the regional tournament. Please the team all day Thursday and possibly Friday as well. 

May 5th - 7th --- Regional Softball/Baseball Tournament at Lonoke


AP US History

Juniors please check your mailing address in your HAC account. There will be a post card mailed out this summer for your senior picture with date and time. The dates for senior pictures will be July 26 and 27.

If you have a correction for your address, please contact the office.

Driver's Education Class: Driver's Ed will be offered at PJHS on May 26th, 27th, 31st, June 1st and 2nd from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (one hour break for lunch - lunch is not provided). Students will earn 0.5 elective Credit upon completion of class. In order to be placed on the list for driver's ed a student must have their Driver's Permit and a check in the amount of $200.00 (check will not be deposited until the first day of class). 2 seats are available. There will only be one class available. Sign up in PJHS Office.

The band room is closed to students during lunch, unless a student has a note signed by a band director with permission to be there.

PARKING REMINDER: Students are not to park at the athletic complex or the agri building during school hours. Park in your designated class areas.

Circle of Friends: If anyone is interested in joining the Circle of Friends, peer applications are available in the office.

SWAT meetings every Wednesday in Mrs. Baty’s room (Rm 22) at lunch- Bring your lunch!

Math tutoring is available Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday BEFORE SCHOOL (7:00 - 7:50 in Rm 18 - Henderson) and AFTER SCHOOL (3:30 - 4:30 in Rm 26 - Steimel). Literacy and other subjects tutoring is available Tuesday and Thursday after school 3:30 - 4:30 in Rm 24 - Bass.

May 13th - Graduation practice 9:00 a.m. Schoonover Stadium (mandatory attendance to participate in graduation ceremony tonight). Senior group picture in cap and gown taken promptly at 9:00 a.m.

May 13th - Yearbook Ceremony…. Following graduation practice - students will be called by intercom.

Be sure to fill out a transcript release and return to the office or Mrs. Hogan if you plan to continue your education after graduation.

You may begin applying at for the Arkansas Challenge Scholarship by going to the YoUniversal tab. Those still needing to meet requirements have until June 1st.

NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital will be hosting NURSE CAMP June 27-June 29. This is a FREE 3-day program open to high school students (grades 9-12) with an interest in medical field. There is limited space and applications are due June 1st. Applications may be picked up in the Nurse's Office. For questions call 870-936-0274.

The "Aspiring Fashion Professional" Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded to students that are interested in pursuing a fashion degree at an accredited post-secondary school or college. Interested students can visit this link and find the scholarship located at the bottom of the page and click on it. The deadline is June 1, 2016.

The "Aspiring Animation Professional" Scholarship Program is a $1000 scholarship awarded for This will be awarded to students that are interested in pursuing an animation career path at an accredited post-secondary school or college. Nursing Schools Almanac has just launched its second annual Aspiring Nurse Scholarship. They will award a $1,000 scholarship to an aspiring nurse. This scholarship is open to all high school seniors who plan to pursue college education in nursing, including LPN / LVN, ADN, and BSN programs. Scholarship applications will be accepted until midnight on June 30, 2016. They ask interested students to visit and click the banner on the right-hand side of the website's homepage.
