Valentine’s Day Deliveries will be made directly to the Library beginning at 8:00 until 2:00 p.m. Students who leave campus for BRTC classes or are checking out for the day should check with the library before leaving campus to see if they have received any deliveries. We will begin calling students at 2:00 to pick up their deliveries. Please remember no balloons or glass containers are allowed on the buses. PHS is not responsible for deliveries not being picked up by the end of the day or loss of items.

Seniors….. Each year the representatives from colleges attend our honor program. If you have received and accepted a scholarship, please list the name of the school that you received the scholarship from so that Mrs. Hogan is sure to have your college rep invited. ****MASH**** Applications for the Jonesboro program at UAMS have been sent via email from Mrs. Hogan. Program Dates June 4th - 14th…… Deadline to apply is March 14th. Current sophomores and juniors are eligible for the program.

Attention Parents- The nurse will begin conducting BMI screenings on 10th grade students in the next few weeks. If you do not wish for your child to be screened, please send a note to the nurse. This screening is ONLY for 10th grade students.
Project Graduation ~~~~~Next meeting February 11th @ 2:30pm in the PHS cafeteria. All seniors and parents are encouraged to attend, and to participate.
The health department will be here on February 21st to give meningitis vaccines to students who are in need of them. A meningitis booster is required at age 16. Consent forms will be sent home with those students are due for the vaccination. Forms should be returned to the school nurse no later than February 14th.
🎤🎷🎸🎵 DO YOU HAVE TALENT? Sing? Dance? Play an instrument? If so, try out for STARBURST!! It is a music and variety show for Pocahontas students of all ages!! Try-outs will be after school on FEBRUARY 26th and FEBRUARY 28th, in PJHS GYM. Certain spots are limited. Information/applications are available in school offices. DO NOT RETURN PAPER TO TEACHERS. Students may take whatever they need. The closet is frequently refilled with new/used things so visit often! "The Closet" is located in the Kitchen Home Economics Building. One door remains open for student convenience. Many coats & scarves have been recently donated! REMINDER to Students & Staff: If students arrive on campus after the tardy bell at 8:00 a.m. they are to check in at the office. Students should have a tardy slip/pass from the office if they come into class after the bell; if not send them to the office to sign in.

REMINDER: If you are taking a College Day (college tour, interview, etc. you must get a form from the office and have it signed by Mrs. Hogan and a parent. The form must be turned into the office prior to the day of your visit. You also must bring back a note from your college day for verification.
Remember as you are applying to attend post-secondary schools you must complete a PHS Transcript and Records Release Form to schools you are considering. Mrs. Hogan has attached this document and sent to your email account.

More than 200 scholarships are available for eligible Arkansas students through Arkansas Community Foundation. Go to www.arcf.org/scholarships to apply. Requirements for applying to these varies with each. Check to see if you fit some of the requirements.
Attached to your email you will find the Application and Application Submission Procedures for Local Scholarships that are given by community this spring. This one application will cover the majority of the scholarships, any that it does not cover will be sent to you separately at a later date. It is important that you complete the application in typewritten form and not handwritten. Applications are due in the High School Office no later than February 8th at 3:30 pm.
A $500 scholarship is being offered to a deserving Randolph County graduating senior who plans to pursue a higher education at any Arkansas college. In order to apply you must be a child of a Veteran family member. This application must be postmarked no later than February 15, 2018. Mrs. Hogan has attached the application to this email. High Voltage Lineman Training Sponsorship - Applications are available at http://www.claycountyelectric.com/high-voltage-lineman-training. Submit applications by close of business Friday, March 30, 2018.
BRTC will now be offering the Academic Incentive Scholarship to students who have a composite ACT score of 19-23. This scholarship will be in the amount of $250 per semester and is renewable up to four semesters provided the recipient completes a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester and maintains a cumulative GPA of 2.0. In order to receive the Academic Incentive Scholarship, the student will need to complete the Application for Admissions and Scholarships and be accepted for admissions at BRTC.
