We will host the Star City Bulldogs in a Class 4A State playoff game at 7:00 this Friday night. Ticket prices will be $6 per person as set by the Arkansas Activities Association. In addition, the only passes that can be accepted Friday night will be the AAA passes.

Pocahontas School District Announces New Mobile App Pocahontas School District is excited to announce the release of the District’s new mobile app. The app will provide users with a “one stop” destination for all district news and information pertaining to the Pocahontas School District and its schools. Everything from school lunch calendars to sports scores can be found in our app. The app is available in both iPhone and Android platforms. Search “Pocahontas Public Schools, AR”in both the iTunes Store and Google Play to download the apps. The district will provide additional information, regarding use of the app, in the coming week

FBLA Competitive Events Meeting: Lunch --Thursday, November 19th-- in Mrs. Debbie Hall"s Room. "If you are interested in competing in a FBLA competition, this meeting is mandatory!!"

There will be a GT parent meeting Thursday Night in the Junior High Library at 6:00 pm. Davis Hendricks, Legislative Advocate for Gifted Education in Arkansas, will be the guest speaker. All parents of gifted students and anyone interested in gifted education are encouraged to attend.

Semester Test Schedule:

Tuesday, Dec. 15 - Periods 6-7. Students on regular schedule periods 1-5.

Wednesday, Dec. 16 Periods 3, 4, 5. Make-ups for periods 6 and 7. Students on regular schedule periods 1 and 2.

Thursday, Dec. 17 - Periods 1 and 2, make-ups for periods 3-5.

Friday, Dec. 18 - Make-ups for periods 1 and 2.

-Students are to test according to the semester test schedule - NO EARLY TESTING.

Math tutoringis available Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday BEFORE SCHOOL (7:00 - 7:50 in Rm 18 - Henderson) and AFTER SCHOOL (3:30 - 4:30 in Rm 26 - Steimel). Literacy and other subjects tutoringis available Tuesday and Thursday after school 3:30 - 4:30 in Rm 24 - Bass.

Athletic passes are good for fall sports only (Football and Volleyball games). Spring sports passes have been handed out (Basketball, Swim). You must show your Athletic pass to the gate workers in order to enter the event for free. If you do not have your pass, you must pay the entry fee.

Seniors, who are in the ATU recruitment database, will soon receive information about our 42ndannual Creative Writing Contest. Attached you will find a flyer for distribution. Submissions must be received byJanuary 15, 2016. Awards are announced duringTime Out for Tech.

To be considered for scholarships at Arkansas State University - Jonesboro you must be fully admitted by December 1st. This is the Tuesday we return from Thanksgiving Break. If you are considering attending please apply this week. I will not be on campus Tuesday-Friday of this week, but if you will email me I can send your transcript and ACT scores. If you wish to use your most recent scores that we have not yet received, you may ask the office to copy your personal set from the website and place the school seal on them. However, if you included ASU as a school to receive your scores this should not be necessary.

The same is true for UALR, however they have a separate scholarship application that will need to be completed. The following is the link for UALR first time freshman scholarship:

Seniors check the spelling of your name on the list on the board across from the office. This is how it will appear on your diploma, so make sure your name is spelled correctly.

Henderson State University Preview Days - Reddie for Henderson Day will be held on Thursday, November 5th and Thursday, November 19th. We invite students and their families to visit our campus to meet faculty, staff and current students. WinField is keeping the tradition of theCareers in Agriculture Scholarship Program, by announcing the kick-off for this year’s offering, today. Scholarships worth$1,000 will be awarded to 10 high school seniors and 10 college studentsin their first or second year who demonstrate scholastic achievement, leadership in agriculture and a perceived ability to contribute to agriculture in the future. BRTC Scholarships - The deadline for scholarships has changed toMarch 1st, unless otherwise noted on the specific details. Also, note the slight change on the application that addresses the essay requirements. Check your email for the application.

  1. The first scholarship is "Aspiring Fashion Professional" Scholarship. This is a $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded to students that are interested in pursuing a fashion degree at an accredited post-secondary school or college.   1. The 2nd Scholarship is the "Aspiring Animation Professional" Scholarship Program. This is the 5th year we are awarding this scholarship for AnimationCareerReview.com. We are offering high school seniors the opportunity to win a $1,000 scholarship. This will be awarded to students that are interested in pursuing an animation career path at an accredited post-secondary school or college. The deadline for both scholarships isJune 1, 2016.

Nursing Schools Almanac has just launched its second annual Aspiring Nurse Scholarship. They will award a $1,000 scholarship to an aspiring nurse who best demonstrates:

+ A track record of academic excellence, particularly in science and mathematics

+ A passion for the nursing profession and the overall field of healthcare

This scholarship is open to all high school seniors who plan to pursue college education in nursing, including LPN / LVN, ADN, and BSN programs. Scholarship applications will be accepted until midnight on June 30, 2016.
