GENERAL NEWS

REMINDER: Students are not to sit in their vehicles once they arrive on campus. Once you are parked you must exit your vehicle and come into the building.

SWIM TEAM: Please turn in your warm up suits (jacket & pants) this week. You may turn them into Mrs. Dianna in the office or Coach Sara at Alma Spikes.

There are a few basketball district tournament shirts left...sizes small, large and xlarge… $10 each. Please see Monica Brewington at MD Williams.

Any student who wants to showcase their art or photography in the yearbook, please submit it to hope.barnes@smail.pocahontaspsd.com

Pocahontas Public Schools will conduct parent/teacher conferences for students, in grades K-6 only, on Thursday, March 16, 2017. Parents are encouraged to meet with their child's teacher(s) between the hours of 3:30 p.m. through 7:30 p.m. Because of the conferences, school will be dismissed early for all students that day.. Alma Spikes Elementary walkers will be dismissed at 1:55 p.m and bus students at 2:10 p.m. All other students in grades 3-12 will be dismissed at 2:25 p.m. Lunches will be served. Classes will resume on the regular schedule Friday, March 17, 2017.

Jammin In The Jungle Basketball Tournament March 31st thru April 1st

Applications are being accepted for the St. Bernards Medical Center Jr. Volunteer Program. The program allows students (ages 15 – 18) an opportunity to volunteer in a hospital setting where they will explore careers and gain experience in helping others. Participants will gain hands on experience in surgery, laboratory, nursing, radiology, rehabilitative services, exercise science, pharmacy and more! It will be a three-week session where we will accept 15 students into the program. The session will be held from July 7th-28th. Applications may be picked up in the nurse's office. They are due by Friday, May 5th.

Driver's Education Class Sign ups - Students must have a Driver's Permit in order to take the class. Only 9 seats available at this time. First come/first serve. Must have $200.00 check (check can be dated May 25th) to place name on list and Driver's Permit. Sign up in PJHS Office. Classes will be May 25th, 26th, 30th, 31st and June 1st. (8:00 - 5:00 p.m. )

HISTORY CLUB will meet on Mondays during lunch.

FFA members on AG Mechanics & Electricity teams meet Tuesdays & Thursdays with Mr. Hogan @ 3:30

NHS will meet every Tuesday @12:20 to discuss fundraising and activities.

Anyone interested in Chess Club see Mrs. Miller on Wednesdays. Chess practice will be Wednesdays at noon in her room at junior high.

S.W.A.T. will meet every Wednesday in Mrs. Baty’s room at lunch… Bring your lunch.

KEY CLUB will meet every Wednesday in Mr. James’ room at lunch

DRAMA CLUB MEETING DURING LUNCH EVERY WEDNESDAY

Mr. Miller will be offering tutoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays before school or directly after school. Please make sure to let him know if you will be attending. Students can also stop by his room during 4th hour, if needed.

Mrs. Henderson will be offering tutoring at 7:00 a.m. in her classroom on TUESDAYS. She will have a chrome cart available.

REMINDER: Students are to sign in and out of the office when they come onto and leave campus any time other than the first bell at 7:50 a.m. Students who have classes on the BRTC campus are to sign in and out at the office according to their schedule.

ALL students who drive and park on our campus must have a current hang tag.

FRIDAY

Circle of Friends WILL NOT meet on Friday. We will be gone to play basketball in Piggott! GO SKINS!

Lady Redskins will play in the 2nd round of State in Nashville, AR @ 4:00…. Good Luck Ladies!!! The next round game will be Saturday @ 6:00 and the championship game is TBA.

---Students wanting to attend the basketball game may be excused from 10:00 a.m. (3rd period) through the end of the day but you must find Mrs. Grooms at the game and sign in with her to be excused.

ALL STUDENTS: The Northeast Arkansas Wounded Warriors Group is offering a $1000 scholarship this spring - the application can be found on their facebook page. Any student that is the child, spouse, sibling, or grandchild of a veteran and receives college credit may apply. Deadline for applying is April 7th.

There is a new Senior List posted on the bulletin board across from the office. PLEASE CHECK it to be sure your name is spelled correctly. This is how it will be listed on your diploma.
