Congratulations FFA members !!! The following are the results from the District CDE Contest and most qualified for State April 13th/14th: Sarah Hodge & Clara Luttrell - 7th Livestock... Sarah Brown, Laurel Dhority & Maddie Russell - 4th Horse ..Blain Huddleston, Jacob Endicott, Bradley Clark, Dustin Knoche - 2nd Poultry… Morgan Shelton & Mikayla Hibbard - 10th Vet Science… Gabby Archer & Brooklyn Roberts - 8th Milk Quality. Job Well Done!

10th Grade - BRTC will be here on March 30 at 8:30 that morning to talk with interested sophomores about the TOPSS program. There will also be a presentation that evening at 6:00 for parents and students to attend. TOPSS - provides opportunities for students to begin college work in Health Care (CNA, phlebotomy, nursing, EMT, or Fire Science) and Industrial Technology (Welding, Machine Tool, or Industrial Electricity). These are free to PHS Juniors and Seniors.

Students needing to do makeup work for welding class - the agri building will be open at 10:00 am Saturday.....

SWIM TEAM: Please turn in your warm up suits (jacket & pants) this week. You may turn them into Mrs. Dianna in the office or Coach Sara at Alma Spikes.

Any student who wants to showcase their art or photography in the yearbook, please submit it to hope.barnes@smail.pocahontaspsd.com

FFA Officer Applications will be available on March 15th and must be turned in by March 31st.

Pocahontas Public Schools will conduct parent/teacher conferences for students, in grades K-6 only, on Thursday, March 16, 2017. Parents are encouraged to meet with their child's teacher(s) between the hours of 3:30 p.m. through 7:30 p.m. Because of the conferences, school will be dismissed early for all students that day.. Alma Spikes Elementary walkers will be dismissed at 1:55 p.m and bus students at 2:10 p.m. All other students in grades 3-12 will be dismissed at 2:25 p.m. Lunches will be served. Classes will resume on the regular schedule Friday, March 17, 2017.

Jammin In The Jungle Basketball Tournament March 31st thru April 1st

Applications are being accepted for the St. Bernards Medical Center Jr. Volunteer Program. The program allows students (ages 15 – 18) an opportunity to volunteer in a hospital setting where they will explore careers and gain experience in helping others. Participants will gain hands on experience in surgery, laboratory, nursing, radiology, rehabilitative services, exercise science, pharmacy and more! It will be a three-week session where we will accept 15 students into the program. The session will be held from July 7th-28th. Applications may be picked up in the nurse's office. They are due by Friday, May 5th.

ACT Summer Academy - May 25th, 26th, 30th, 31st & June 5th - 9th… for students wishing to prepare for the June test. You MUST register for the June 10th ACT test (deadline for registration is May 5th). Once registered provide Mrs. Hogan with a copy of your ACT admission ticket.

Driver's Education Class Sign ups - Students must have a Driver's Permit in order to take the class. Only 6 seats available. First come/first serve. Must have $200.00 check (check can be dated May 25th) to place name on list and Driver's Permit. Sign up in PJHS Office. Classes will be May 25th, 26th, 30th, 31st and June 1st. (8:00 - 5:00 p.m. )

Practice for Agri Mechanics is Tuesday and Wednesday starting at 4:00 pm

DRAMA CLUB & HISTORY CLUB will meet Monday & Wednesday during lunch in Mrs. Bass’ room.

FFA members on AG Mechanics & Electricity teams meet Tuesdays & Thursdays with Mr. Hogan @ 3:30

NHS will meet every Tuesday @12:20 to discuss fundraising and activities.

CHESS CLUB will practice Wednesdays at noon in Mrs. Miller’s room at junior high.

S.W.A.T. will meet every Wednesday in Mrs. Baty’s room at lunch… Bring your lunch.

KEY CLUB will meet every Wednesday in Mr. James’ room at lunch

Mr. Miller will be offering tutoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays before school or directly after school. Please make sure to let him know if you will be attending. Students can also stop by his room during 4th hour, if needed.

REMINDER: Students are to sign in and out of the office when they come onto and leave campus any time other than the first bell at 7:50 a.m. Students who have classes on the BRTC campus are to sign in and out at the office according to their schedule.

REMINDER: Students are not to sit in their vehicles once they arrive on campus. Once you are parked you must exit your vehicle and come into the building.

ALL students who drive and park on our campus must have a current hang tag.

Ready Set Graduate (Seniors) at BRTC… Bus will leave at 8:00 and return around 3:00

There will be a MANDATORY Prom meeting today at 12:00 in Mrs. Baty's room. If you are on the Prom committee please bring your lunch with you and be PROMPT!

The Crowley's Ridge Classic Livestock Show will take place March 10th-11th. FFA members will be competing on Friday and Saturday. Good Luck FFA members !!!.

Redskin Baseball will play in the Cedar Ridge Tournament Friday night as originally planned. No game on Saturday. Please dismiss the players at 3:00.

Lady Redskins Basketball vs Pottsville in the State Finals @ 6:00 at Hot Springs Convention Center! Good Luck Ladies!!! We are proud of you !

ALL STUDENTS: The Northeast Arkansas Wounded Warriors Group is offering a $1000 scholarship this spring - the application can be found on their facebook page. Any student that is the child, spouse, sibling, or grandchild of a veteran and receives college credit may apply. Deadline for applying is April 7th.
