GENERAL NEWS

LOST KEY:  Mr. Hogan found a GMC truck key on the road between the agri building and the complex.  See Mr. Hogan to claim.

All members of the Homecoming court must have their information sheets back to Mr. Phelps or Mrs. Hackworth by Friday,September 8.

2017-18 Football Homecoming Court!  Sophomore Maids: Jade Cannon, Madilyn McDowell, Kate Sorg --- Junior Maids:  Brenna Baltz, Allie Barnes, Hannah Carter, Allana Sisco --- Senior Maids:  Hope Barnes, Mikayla Kirk, Madison Munn, Olivia Schmidt, Natalie Toney

Students who receive free and reduced meals are only allowed one breakfast at the free or reduced rate.  If a student wants a second breakfast, the second must be paid for.

PHS Booster Club has a few Kick-Off T-shirts still for sale.  (Sizes available - adult small, adult large, adult 3x) They are $10.  See Monica Brewington at MD Williams.

St. Bernards is currently accepting applications for the Patient Ambassador Program.  Applications are due September 15th.  This program allows students (ages 15-18) an opportunity to volunteer in a hospital setting where they will explore areas of healthcare and gain experience in helping others.  It will be a year-round program allowing them to fulfill any of their needed community service hours or graduation requirements.  Applications may be picked up in the nurse’s office.

Duty teachers - band students currently have permission to come to the band room at lunch, as they have a project due.  We'll let you know when they'll need individual notes again.- Brady Massey

Tutoring has begun: Math (Steimel, Helms, Murray) on Tuesday and Thursday each week. Literacy with Mrs. Bass (includes all other areas) on Tuesday and Thursday each week. Tutoring is in the after school from 3:30-4:30.

***Please remember to use caution when walking to and from buildings.  Students should use the crosswalks especially of the mornings and the afternoons when traffic is the busiest.  Drivers please use caution and be aware of students walking around campus.

CLUB NEWS

FFA - There will be an FFA Officer Meeting on Wednesday September 13th at lunch.  

There will be an FFA meeting September 14th at 4 Pm in the Agriculture Building.

Students wanting to order an FFA T-Shirt need to bring their money and sign the T-Shirt List at the same time to get a shirt.  The member must have paid and signed the sheet by September 15th.  

If you are wanting to compete in the Tractor Driving Contest at the District Fair please see Mr. Hogan for information.

FBLA -  Anyone interested in joining FBLA needs to pay their dues of $20 to Mrs. Hall or Mrs. Blalock by Sept. 15th.

Agenda: New Business

  1. Each member is asked to try and sell 1 Homecoming mum or garter or button. Items can be sold to Alma, M.D., Jr. High, and High School. Bring in money with the order. Give orders and money to Mrs. Cox for receipts.

  2. First Teen Leader’s Meeting September 27, from 3:30 to 5:00 in PJHS student center. Try to make part of the meeting after your other practices. (4-H students will go to this meeting)

  3. Parents are asked to come to a Title I meeting at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday Sept. 19 in the PJHS library. (Parent Involvement)

  4. If anyone missed signing up for 4-H, Teen Leaders or PRIDE, just see Mrs.Cox.

  5. October is the month that we will start preparing to teach during Red Ribbon Week. Be thinking of who you want to work with and what grade/class. Signup will begin the first week of October.

  6. PRIDE tryout date and times to be announced by the PRIDE Team.

Old Business:  Get your LINK dues and paperwork in as soon as possible.

S.W.A.T. will meet on every Tuesday in Mrs. Baty's room.  Everyone is invited.  You can bring your lunch.

SENIOR NEWS

Seniors remember to check your email often for news and updates pertinent to you.

UALR has announced their scholarship deadline this year as:  Friday, December 1st.  

Seniors you must apply and be admit prior to the deadline.

UALR Discover days this year will be:  Friday, October 13 is the first Discover, our premiere preview day.  Friday, November 3 is the second Discover.  If you plan to attend see Mrs. Dianna for a college day form in the office.

Mrs. Gholson’s 3rd hour Medical Terminology class should report to Study Hall due to the immunization clinic this morning.

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY will meet in Mrs. Murray's room (28) during lunch to discuss elections & clothing closet.  

ART CLUB is still taking new members!  Join us for an ART CLUB meeting, in Ms. Galvan's room at lunch.

Any senior who wants to participate with the senior float or tailgate may bring their lunch to Mr. Helms' room at 12:05 on Thursday to begin planning.

There will be a Spanish Club meeting in Mrs. Inman's room at 12:05 for all students interested in joining.

UPCOMING EVENTS

September 5th - 29th - Annual FFA Fruit and Meat Sale.  Please see an advisor or FFA member to purchase.

September 12th - The recruiter with the Marines will be on campus to meet with students interested in the Marines. He will have an information table set up in the concession area of the gym with Mrs. Hogan during lunch.

September 12th - Josten’s will be here for Junior Ring Preview.  Students will be called to the cafeteria

September 14th - FFA Meeting in the Ag Building @ 4 p.m.

September 21st - Fall Pictures….(Please remember that we DO NOT take spring pictures at the high school, so this is the only opportunity you have to purchase school pictures)

September 22nd - registration deadline for October 28th ACT. Late registration 9/23 - 10/6 (late fee is charged)

September 29th -  HOMECOMING - Theme is “There’s No Place Like Homecoming” based on the The Wizard of Oz.   Spirit Week:  Monday - Character Day  Tuesday - Camo Day  Wednesday - Decade Day  Thursday - Neon Day  Friday - Red & White Day

October 26th -  The health department will be here to administer flu shots.  Consent forms will be sent home during the month of October.  Please see the nurse with any questions.
