Homecoming Shirts are on sale now through September 20th…. Shirts may be purchased from Mr. Phelps in Study Hall or during lunch at the gym concession stand.
T-Shirts (white) are $10 youth small - Adult XL $12 for 2XL & 3XL
Baseball Style Shirt (White with Red Sleeves) $15 youth small - Adult XL $17 for 2XL & 3XL
Homecoming Dance - If you plan on bringing a date that attends another school or is out of school you must sign them up on the list in the office. Dates must be in grades 9-12 or 20 years of age or younger if no longer in school. Dates must be signed up ahead of time and approved by administrators and sponsors. Deadline to sign up dates is 9/22/17.
REMINDER to Students & Staff: If students arrive on campus after the tardy bell at 8:00 a.m. they are to check in at the office. Students should have a tardy slip/pass from the office if they come into class after the bell; if not send them to the office to sign in.
GENERAL NEWS
Tuesday night, Sept. 19, Mr. Skelton and Mrs. Grooms will host the Title I meeting at 6:00 p.m. in the Jr. High library. This will be an informative meeting on how the Title I money is spent in our district for Jr. High and High students. This is a meeting that is required each year by the state. This email is simply to inform you that the meeting will be held. Teachers are not required to attend.
PSAT-10 results from the Spring 2017 test were given to students who participated last year. Mrs. Hogan has emailed a document explaining the results. Please see this or contact Mrs. Hogan if you or your parent have any questions.
Tutoring has begun: Math (Steimel, Helms, Murray) on Tuesday and Thursday each week. Literacy with Mrs. Bass (includes all other areas) on Tuesday and Thursday each week. Tutoring is in the after school from 3:30-4:30.
***Please remember to use caution when walking to and from buildings. Students should use the crosswalks especially of the mornings and the afternoons when traffic is the busiest. Drivers please use caution and be aware of students walking around campus.
CLUB NEWS
FFA - If you are wanting to compete in the Tractor Driving Contest at the District Fair please see Mr. Hogan for information.

***FFA Members are selling Fruit an Meat until September 29th. If you need to order please ask an FFA member or contact Mr. Washburn.
***Any FFA member wanting to go to Pumpkin Hollow need to sign up for this trip by October 4th in Mr. Washburn's Room.
FBLA - There has been some confusion on who could and could not join FBLA this year. The state has informed us that any student who has had Keyboard that wants to join FBLA may do so. I will extend the deadline out to Wednesday, September 20th for anyone who wants to join.
The History Club will be meeting on Tuesday/Thursday/Friday until homecoming to work on our float. All members need to attend as often as possible.
S.W.A.T. will meet on every Tuesday in Mrs. Baty's room. Everyone is invited. You can bring your lunch.

SENIOR NEWS

PROJECT GRADUATION MEETING: September 24th at 2:30 pm in the High School Cafeteria. All seniors and parents are encouraged to attend.
Important information in your email regarding A-State and ACT scores for consideration of admission and consideration for institutional scholarships.
Remember as you are applying to attend post-secondary schools you must complete a PHS Transcript and Records Release Form to schools you are considering. Mrs. Hogan has attached this document and sent to your email account.
UALR Discover days this year will be: Friday, October 13 is the first Discover, our premiere preview day. Friday, November 3 is the second Discover. If you plan to attend see Mrs. Dianna for a college day form in the office.
Razorback Connections will be held on October 18th in Jonesboro from 6-7:30 pm. This is an event for any senior considering attending the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville who may be unable to visit the campus. Please see Mrs. Stewart (career coach) for registration information.
U of A New Freshman Scholarships - NOVEMBER 1 - Priority Admissions Deadline: Complete an admissions application and request a scholarship application on the general admissions form, submit transcripts, and send test scores to the office of admissions by this date.
U of A New Freshman Scholarships - NOVEMBER 15 - Priority Scholarship Deadline: Submit a scholarship application by this date for priority consideration for academic scholarships
UALR has announced their scholarship deadline this year as: Friday, December 1st. Seniors you must apply and submit prior to the deadline.

Enter the Breakthrough Junior Challenge for a chance to win a $250,000 scholarship…. See your email for details. The deadline for submission is October 1, 2017.

September 29th - Homecoming Dance - Begins after the game and ends at 11:30 p.m. It is for PHS students in grades 10-12 and their dates (who must be signed up by 9/22/17 if they are in grades 9-12 from another school district or out of school and 20 years or age or younger). Deadline to sign up is 12:00 noon on 9/22/17.
October 4th - College Application Day for Seniors with Career Coach Lindsey Stewart. Drop in at PHS Library.
October 26th - The health department will be here to administer flu shots. Consent forms will be sent home during the month of October. Please see the nurse with any questions.
October 30th - FAFSA Nite with BRTC for Seniors 6-7 p.m.
