*** PLEASE NO CHARGING MEALS IN MAY ***  (However, please know no child will ever be refused a school meal)  This allows us to close out the school year in a timely fashion.  We ask all outstanding charges be fully paid prior to the end of school, please contact Patty Moore if you need to discuss your account.

GENERAL NEWS

Anyone interested in helping plant flowers at the Bridge of Hope on Saturday, May 19th at 10 a.m.  please sign up on Mrs. Baty's door.

There are still some track uniforms out!  Please get those turned in ASAP!

LIBRARY BOOKS ARE DUE!  Return to the library or the office NO  LATER THAN WEDNESDAY, MAY 18TH.

Any medications not picked up from the nurse by the last day of school will be destroyed.

All Art I semester I art students wanting to pick up their art and folders may do so before school, before 4th hour, and after school until the last of school. All art and folders left after the last day of school will be disposed of!

AP Exam Test Schedule:  Be in testing room at 7:45

May 15th - AP Calculus in Mrs. Miller’s room at PJHS

May 16th - AP English Lang in Rooms 106, 107, 118 at BRTC

May 17th - AP World History in Rooms 106, 107, 118 at BRTC

Semester Tests for Sophomores & Juniors:

May 17th - 6th & 7th periods and any missing assignments

May 18th - 3rd, 4th & 5th periods…. Makeup tests for 6th & 7th and any missing assignments

May 21st - 1st & 2nd periods… Makeup tests for 3rd, 4th & 5th and any missing assignments

Pocahontas Public Schools will conclude the 2017-2018 school year on Wednesday, May 23, 2018. Students will return and receive their final report cards in addition to participating in various activities and/or programs at their respective schools. Students will be released early with Alma bus riders being dismissed at approximately 12:00 P.M. and all other bus riders at 12:15 P.M. Lunch will be served prior to dismissal. The staff, administration, and board wish all students an enjoyable summer vacation!

SUMMER SCHOOL:  May 29th - June 8th from 8:00-3:00 in the Junior High bldg

ACT Summer Academy - May 24th - June 7th from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon each day.

Driver's Education - Driver's Ed will be offered at PJHS for Students at PJHS and PHS. on the following dates:  Tuesday, May 29th, Wednesday, May 30th,Thursday, May 31st, Friday, June 1st,  and Saturday, June 2nd (and/or Monday June 4th). 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m (1 hour lunch break).  Only 11 seats available.  Must have driver's permit and $200.00 paid to the PJHS office to be place on the Class list.  (checks should be dated May 29th and will be deposited on the first day of class). Please see Mrs. Meigs in the Jr. High Office.

☕🍌🍕 Pocahontas Public Schools will offer Free Breakfast & Free Lunch to anyone through the age of 18.  Monday, June 11th thru Friday, June 22nd in the MD Williams Cafeteria. Breakfast is served 7:00-9:00 a.m. and Lunch is served 11:00 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.  Meals must be consumed in the Cafeteria. Adult Breakfast $2.10 ….. Adult Lunch $

 

SENIOR NEWS

Remember as you are applying to attend post-secondary schools you must complete a PHS Transcript and Records Release Form to schools you are considering.  Mrs. Hogan has attached this document and sent to your email account. Please remember

If you plan to attend Harding University, ASU - Searcy Campus, ASU- Beebe Campus, or ASU - Heber Springs Campus please note the opportunity to for a $250 textbook scholarship, a $150 book rental scholarship, and $100 book rental scholarship.  Details are in your email. Forms must be received by May 31st.

BRTC will now be offering the Academic Incentive Scholarship to students who have a composite ACT score of 19-23.  This scholarship will be in the amount of $250 per semester and is renewable up to four semesters provided the recipient completes a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester and maintains a cumulative GPA of 2.0.  In order to receive the Academic Incentive Scholarship, the student will need to complete the Application for Admissions and Scholarships and be accepted for admissions at BRTC.

THURSDAY  5/17

AP World History exam in Rooms 106, 107, 118 at BRTC.  Be there at 7:45. Testing starts at 8:00 a.m.

Art Club will meet Thursday, 5/17/18.  We will be discussing the field trip.

FRIDAY  5/18

Yearbook Presentation @ 8:15 in the PHS gym!  Students report to class where attendance will be taken before we dismiss to the gym.  Seniors should arrive on campus and go directly to the gym.

Graduation practice at 8:45.  Promptly at 9:00 a.m. the senior class photo will be taken.  Don’t Be Late! Bring cap and gown for class photo

Graduation Ceremony 8:00 p.m. @ Schoonover Stadium (weather permitting) ….. (Seniors are to be dressed in the Math/Science hall by 7:50)
