GENERAL NEWS
Just a reminder, students are not allowed to bring knives of any kind onto campus. Students who do will be dealt with accordingly.
Students please do not bring vape pens or oil of any kind onto campus.
Students please do not move the furniture around in the Courtyard.
Pocahontas High School, In conjunction with Pocahontas Junior High, will hold their annual Title 1 meeting for the public on Tuesday, September 18 at 6:00 p.m. in the PJHS Library.

NHS: Induction Ceremony will be held September 27th, 8:00am in the PHS Cafeteria for all members. Members must have dues paid and information sheet turned in to Mrs Murray or Mrs Steimel no later than Thursday, September 20th. If a student did not receive and invitation and would like to check on qualifications, please see Mrs Murray or Mrs Steimel asap.
NHS acceptance forms and $10 dues need to be turned in to Mrs. Murray as soon as possible. The deadline to join NHS is Friday, September 20th.
Any NHS member that is interested in decorating and riding the NHS Homecoming float needs to sign up with Mrs. Murray.
Homecoming T-shirts are for sell now! Shirts will be short sleeve and color will be heather grey. Cost per shirt will be $10 with and additional $2 for 2X and 3X. Order forms are by the bulletin across from the office. Last day to order is Friday, September 21st.
UAMS is excited about our upcoming program series, “A Day in the Life”. Planning and preparation are now underway for both “A Day in the Life - Variety” and “A Day in the Life of a Nurse”. These one-day programs are aimed at helping High School Seniors decide on a medical career by providing information, interaction with professionals, tours, and hands-on activities. Please let students know because of space limitations, they may only choose one of these events. Please see the nurse for an application or with any questions.
New Art Club members are still being accepted. There is a club meeting today during lunch in Mrs. Galvan’s room.
Application 101 will be held for seniors during lunch on October 11th in Mrs. Hampton’s office. Please register by accepting Mrs. Stewart’s email invitation.

The coffee house is now open in the library. All coffee and cappuccinos are $1.00. They are also serving regular teas and raspberry tea. $1.00.
St. Bernards Patient Ambassador Program allows students (ages 15-18) an opportunity to volunteer in a hospital setting, where they will explore areas in healthcare and gain experience in helping others. It will be a year-round program, allowing them to fulfill any of their needed community service hours or graduation requirements. Please note that the deadline for applying is today. Students interested in this program may see the nurse for an application.
Randolph County Kids Fest 2018 will be held Saturday September 22nd at Riverfront Park from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. (In case of rain, it will be held at Randolph County Development Center at BRTC) All ages welcome! There will be live bands, outdoor games, a talent show and free food!
The PHS Booster Club is selling kickoff shirts for $10 each. If you’re interested, please see Monica Brewington before school, during her prep period at 10:00, or after school. Picture of shirt is attached.
The PHS Booster Club is taking orders for "Redskins Nation" apparel. The order form is attached at the bottom of this email.

The History Club will meet on Thursday, September 20th during lunch. All members should attend.

A representative from Williams Baptist University will be in the counselor’s office during lunch on Thursday, September 20 to meet with any interested juniors or seniors. (You may bring your lunch to the counselors office.)
If you would like to take the ASVAB on Tuesday, September 25, 2018, stop by the counselor’s office to sign up and pick up a fact sheet by today.
10th-12th grade students: Do you plan to play college sports? Stop by the counselor's office for info on how to start the process through NCAA.
The new meeting place for all college/military recruiters from now on will be in the student center during lunch. This should make it easier for students to participate. Specific dates and visitors will be added to the announcements regularly.
A representative form College of the Ozarks will be set up in the student center during lunch October 18th.
A representative from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway will be in the student center during lunch on Thursday, November 15.
