The Arkansas Department of Education has announced 23 teachers statewide selected for the inaugural Arkansas Excellence in Teaching Fellowship, and Pocahontas School District’s Monica Brewington is among them.
Mrs. Brewington, a 5th-grade math teacher at M.D. Williams Intermediate School, has dedicated 35 years to education, with 29 of those years spent in the classroom. She comes from a family deeply rooted in education, with generations of teachers and school board service. Monica lives in Pocahontas with her husband, an administrator in the district, and their two sons, who are also educators and coaches in Bentonville.
As part of this fellowship, participants will engage in professional learning opportunities through May 2026 to enhance instructional practices, elevate the teaching profession, and contribute to the state’s Merit Teacher Incentive Fund.
We are incredibly proud of Mrs. Brewington for representing Pocahontas School District and Northeast Arkansas with excellence!
