Our students and staff recently came together for a special surprise for one of our beloved SROs, Officer Cat, as she prepares to travel and continue her health journey.
Officer Cat is a familiar face, a trusted friend, and such a special part of our school family. We wanted to make sure she knows just how many people are in her corner, sending her love, encouragement, and support every step of the way.
We're cheering for you, Officer Cat! Your Redskin family is behind you! ❤️🤍

📢 REMINDER: Our First Early Release Wednesday is Next Week!
Pocahontas School District will have its first Early Release Wednesday next week. We want to make sure our families know exactly what to expect:
🕐 Early Release: Students may be picked up by a parent/guardian at 1:45 PM.
🚌 Bus Transportation: Buses will NOT run at 1:45 PM. All buses will run at their regularly scheduled dismissal times.
🏫 Staying on Campus: Students who need district transportation or cannot be picked up early will remain on campus, supervised, until regular dismissal. Academic opportunities will be available during this time.
📞 Communication is important! We encourage families to communicate directly with their child's building regarding Early Release Wednesday plans, questions, or any information the school may need to know.
Remember: Early Release Wednesdays only occur during weeks with five full student contact days. During shortened school weeks, students will follow the regular dismissal schedule.
We appreciate our families working with us as we begin this new schedule and make our first Early Release Wednesday a smooth one! ❤️🤍

Our newest faculty and staff members recently completed Capturing Kids' Hearts (CKH) training, preparing them to join our district wide commitment to building strong relationships, creating positive learning environments, and helping every student feel connected and supported at school.
Capturing Kids' Hearts will continue to be a strong focus across Pocahontas School District this year. From greeting students and building relationships to creating Social Contracts together in the classroom, CKH helps establish a culture where students feel valued, respected, and ready to learn.
Parents and families, we encourage you to be part of the conversation! Ask your student about their classroom Social Contract. What did their class decide was important? What words did they choose? What does it look like in their classroom?
CKH is more than a program—it's about creating a culture of connection and belonging throughout PSD. ❤️🤍

School Starts TOMORROW! A Few Important Reminders...
The big day is almost here! As we welcome our students back to Pocahontas School District tomorrow, here are a few housekeeping reminders to help everyone start the year off smoothly:
🚗 Horseshoe Traffic Flow at M.D. Williams
Please take a moment to review the attached traffic flow graphic before morning drop-off. We appreciate everyone's patience, especially during these first few days as we get back into the routine.
📵 Bell-to-Bell, No Cell
Please remember that students should come prepared to follow the Bell-to-Bell, No Cell requirements throughout the school day. Personal electronic devices should be put away from the first bell to the last.
🍎 Meal Applications
Every family still needs to complete a meal application for this school year. Applications can be completed online at **ezmealapp.com** or paper applications are available at each building office. These applications are important in helping our district maintain Provision 2.
A little preparation goes a long way in making the first day a great one! We appreciate our families working alongside us, and we can't wait to see our students TOMORROW!❤️🤍

Welcome to the Redskin family! ❤️

We are proud to celebrate two major accomplishments that reflect our district's commitment to serving students and families.
Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, every Pocahontas School District student will receive FREE breakfast and FREE lunch through Provision 2. This achievement helps ensure every student has access to nutritious meals each school day while providing meaningful support to families across our district. Families will still be asked to complete a meal application, as these applications are critical to supporting district funding and the long-term success of the program.
That commitment to serving our community extends well beyond the school year. This summer, our Child Nutrition Department provided 9,873 meals to children throughout our community during 28 days of service, including 4,681 breakfasts and 5,192 lunches. On average, the team served approximately 353 meals each day, ensuring children continued to have access to healthy, nutritious meals while school was out of session.
These accomplishments are a testament to the dedication, compassion, and hard work of our Child Nutrition Department. Thank you to our cafeteria staff for the care you show our students and community each and every day.
