Pocahontas Elementary School

Pocahontas School District is implementing its second year of the Cart of Kindness initiative, offering grocery support to a limited number of families during this season. With help from our local Harps, we’ve been able to expand the program this year and nearly double the support provided. Together, we’re helping spread kindness throughout the Redskin community.

While the visuals are new, our mission remains the same—supporting students, staff, and families with purpose and pride. You may also notice continued refinements as we update each platform to ensure a consistent experience across the district.

Dismissal with 2nd grade and Mr. Carter was pure Christmas fun today! Festive costumes, Christmas music, and lots of smiles filled the afternoon with holiday cheer!🎄🎅

📚✨Professional Learning Spotlight✨📚 A number of staff members have been participating in voluntary, ongoing professional learning sessions focused on academic rigor, grading practices, and assessment data. These discussions have provided valuable insight and collaboration as we continue to strengthen our collective approach to teaching and learning. We appreciate the thoughtful engagement from those involved and look forward to continuing this important work together.

Yesterday in Ms. Muller’s class, students read The Gingerbread Man and even baked their very own gingerbread friend. We sent him to the cafeteria to be baked, but moments later the lunch ladies came rushing back saying he had run away shouting, “You can’t catch me, I’m the Gingerbread Man!” The class is officially on the hunt, and we’ll be sharing updates as the adventure unfolds. Stay tuned — you never know where he’ll turn up next!🍪🔎

📚🎈 Balloons Over PES! 🎈📚 Our second graders brought their stories to life! Students chose characters from the books they’ve been reading and created their very own character balloons for a festive “Balloons Over PES” parade. We love seeing their creativity shine! ❤️

🍎 PES Food Drive Update 🍎 Pocahontas Elementary School recently held a food drive, and we now have 16 food boxes available for our PES families. 📌 First come, first serve 📌 One box per household 📌 No holds 📌 Available now through Thursday at 12:30 PM — or until all boxes are picked up. Thank you to everyone who donated and helped make this possible for our families! ❤️

📚 Teamwork in Action! Mrs. Roberts’ class worked together to strengthen their understanding of this week’s vocabulary. We love seeing collaboration bring learning to life! ❤️🤝

Our kindergarten teachers know how to make dismissal time fun! This afternoon was full of smiles, waves, and silly moments as our littlest Redkins headed home for the day. We’re so thankful for teachers who turn everyday routines into joyful memories for their students!

Recently, Ms. Sutton’s class took time to learn what Veterans Day truly means and why we honor the brave men and women who have served our country. Students celebrated by discussing the importance of veterans and coloring American flags in recognition of their service and sacrifice. ❤️🤍💙
