Canoe Bus Update for Friday, November 21 -- The Canoe bus will be double routed tomorrow afternoon, which means it will run approximately 45 minutes later than usual.
Thank you for your patience and understanding!
In Ms. Jones’ 1st grade class, students put their creativity to work with a Music/Draw/Write activity while practicing digraphs for this week’s spelling words! Love seeing learning come to life at PES! ❤️📚

🍎 PES Food Drive Update 🍎
Pocahontas Elementary School recently held a food drive, and we now have 16 food boxes available for our PES families.
📌 First come, first serve
📌 One box per household
📌 No holds
📌 Available now through Thursday at 12:30 PM — or until all boxes are picked up.
Thank you to everyone who donated and helped make this possible for our families! ❤️

📚 Teamwork in Action!
Mrs. Roberts’ class worked together to strengthen their understanding of this week’s vocabulary. We love seeing collaboration bring learning to life! ❤️🤝

Our kindergarten teachers know how to make dismissal time fun!
This afternoon was full of smiles, waves, and silly moments as our littlest Redkins headed home for the day. We’re so thankful for teachers who turn everyday routines into joyful memories for their students!

Recently, Ms. Sutton’s class took time to learn what Veterans Day truly means and why we honor the brave men and women who have served our country.
Students celebrated by discussing the importance of veterans and coloring American flags in recognition of their service and sacrifice. ❤️🤍💙

When Property Values Rise, State Support Falls - Here's Why
Rising assessments change who pays - not how much schools receive. As the local tax base grows, the state adjusts its contribution, meaning the overall funding level stays nearly unchanged.

Did you know? 📊
Pocahontas School District currently has one of the lowest millage rates among surrounding districts.
Even with the proposed millage increase, our rate would remain competitive with neighboring schools while allowing us to build safer, more modern learning environments for our students.
An investment in education is an investment in our community’s future.

🌍 World Kindness Day at Pocahontas School District 💛
Today, we’re celebrating the incredible culture of kindness that shines across every PSD campus — from little moments in the classroom to big acts of support in our hallways, buses, cafeterias, and community.
Our students and staff show kindness daily through helping hands, encouraging words, welcoming smiles, and genuine care for one another. These simple actions are what make Pocahontas School District feel like family. ❤️
Let’s keep spreading kindness today and every day — because at PSD, it’s just part of who we are.
