Important Announcement for Parents & Guardians On 4/14/25, our school will be hosting a Mock Accident Event to raise awareness about the dangers of impaired and distracted driving. This powerful simulation will involve student actors, emergency responders, and realistic accident scenes—including sirens, emergency vehicles, and the use of fake blood. Our goal is to provide students with a firsthand look at the devastating consequences that risky driving behaviors can have on individuals, families, and the community. While this is a drill, it will be an intense and emotional learning experience and we will be providing an increased access to counselors during and after the event. Please talk with your student about the importance of safe driving and responsible decision-making. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Christian Helms at 870-892-4573 ext 4003 or christian.helms@pocahontaspsd.com. Thank you for your support in helping us keep our students safe!

Happy National School Librarian Day!! "I enjoy being the PHS librarian because I have always loved reading. I hope to show my students reading can be a great way to escape reality and learn more about the world and themselves. I have the best students and coworkers at PHS, and I am so proud to be working at a place I have always loved and called home. Once a Redskin, always a Redskin! "-Kim Nead

Yesterday approximately 90 of our PHS students volunteered to help with cleaning up from the storms that moved through last Friday night. A special thank you to Chad Overman for helping coordinate this effort and providing lunch for the students. 5 houses were cleaned up and we could not be more proud of our students for stepping up to help!

Students in Mrs. Bigger-Lingo's were to design and create a miniature room using fashion and interior design principles. They applied color theory, design aesthetics, spatial planning, and material selection to craft a 3D representation of a room. This project combines interior design and fashion elements, allowing students to explore their creativity and learn about the importance of space, style, and functionality in design.

Parents and Guardians: Our Board President, Chad Overman, is helping us coordinate and oversee an opportunity for students to earn community service hours helping clean up from the storm damage south of town. This will be tomorrow morning from approximately 8:30-12:30. Students will need to provide a signed permission slip in the morning and come prepared to work with various debris (i.e bring gloves, jackets, boots/tennis shoes, etc). Your student should be bringing home a form today if they wanted to help. We will bus them over in the morning and pick them up when complete, students will not be allowed to drive. Thank you for supporting this community service effort!

Mrs. Williamson and Mrs. Lingo just wrapped up a fantastic six-week Teen Cuisine cooking course with their FACS classes, in partnership with the Randolph County Extension office. A huge thank you to Mrs. Pamela Ray for making this opportunity possible. The students gained essential cooking skills, from the basics to more advanced techniques, helping prepare them for independent living and careers in the food industry!!
