Our phone lines have been fully restored and are now in working order.
We had experienced some ongoing issues with the phone system this morning. However, our technology team has restored service and our phone systems are now fully operational. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

We are still experiencing issues with the phone system. Our technology team is working to restore service as quickly as possible. In the meantime, please feel free to contact us by email or through our website. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

Our district is standing with the Manila community during this incredibly difficult time. We’re keeping their students, families, and staff close in our hearts as they move through the days ahead. ❤️🤍💛🖤 #WeAreOne

Pocahontas School District is implementing its second year of the Cart of Kindness initiative, offering grocery support to a limited number of families during this season. With help from our local Harps, we’ve been able to expand the program this year and nearly double the support provided. Together, we’re helping spread kindness throughout the Redskin community.

We're sorry for the inconvenience! Our phone lines are currently being replaced due to damage caused by squirrels chewing through the cables. Phone lines should be back up within the next two hours. We appreciate your patience while repairs are underway.

We’re so proud of our Redskin athletes, Addison Ward and Aaron Sisco, who represented Pocahontas at the State Special Olympics Bowling Tournament! They competed with heart, joy, and incredible determination. 🎳✨

✨ We're excited to share a refreshed visual identity across our website, district app, Facebook page, YouTube channel, and more. This updated look reflects our continued commitment to clear communication and a unified, modern brand for our schools.
While the visuals are new, our mission remains the same—supporting students, staff, and families with purpose and pride. You may also notice continued refinements as we update each platform to ensure a consistent experience across the district.

📚✨Professional Learning Spotlight✨📚
A number of staff members have been participating in voluntary, ongoing professional learning sessions focused on academic rigor, grading practices, and assessment data. These discussions have provided valuable insight and collaboration as we continue to strengthen our collective approach to teaching and learning.
We appreciate the thoughtful engagement from those involved and look forward to continuing this important work together.

The Pocahontas Board of Education work session originally scheduled for December 1 has been canceled. In addition, the called Special meeting of the Board has also been canceled. The next meeting will be the regular monthly board meeting December 15.

Wishing all students and staff a joyful and restful Thanksgiving Break! Enjoy this time being with family and friends. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on December 1st.

FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT:
I want to extend my sincere appreciation to the Pocahontas community for your engagement throughout the recent millage discussion and for the thoughtful consideration you gave to the proposal. Our school district is fortunate to have a community that cares deeply about its schools, asks important questions, and remains invested in the success of our students.
Although the millage request did not pass, our commitment to providing high-quality educational opportunities for all students remains unchanged. The needs facing our district still exist, and we will continue to address them with the same focus and dedication.
In the weeks ahead, the full school board will work together—collectively and transparently—to review our options and determine the most responsible and effective path forward for our facilities. This process will include careful evaluation, open discussion, and continued communication with our stakeholders. Any long-term plan for our schools must reflect the shared values and priorities of our community.
Thank you again for your engagement, your input, and your ongoing support of the Pocahontas School District. We remain committed to working hand-in-hand with our families, staff, and community members to ensure that our students receive the very best opportunities we can provide.

When Property Values Rise, State Support Falls - Here's Why
Rising assessments change who pays - not how much schools receive. As the local tax base grows, the state adjusts its contribution, meaning the overall funding level stays nearly unchanged.
