Soncom Media Productions and NEA Sports Magazine showcases the student athletes of northeast Arkansas by highlighting them during the 2021 football season with a live broadcast of The High School Game of the Week. Soncom Media Productions captures the passion, pride, and energy of the high school experience by delivering LIVE high school sports to family members and fans whenever they want, wherever they are.
The High School Game of the Week will feature two Pocahontas games: Friday, September 10 at Paragould and Friday, October 1 at Pocahontas. The games will be streamed on Facebook LIVE beginning at 6:30 pm with a pregame show with the kickoff at 7:00 pm.

***The Health Department will be on campus August 24, 2021 to administer vaccinations for those students who need them in order to be up to date for school attendance. This clinic will NOT include Covid vaccinations. The HD will be at the HS campus from 8 am-9 am. Parents may call the school nurse with any questions. Students must receive required immunizations by Sep 17, 2021 to stay in good standing for school attendance.
There will be a separate COVID vaccination clinic on August 24, 2021 from 10 am - 2 pm in the high school student center. A PARENT/GUARDIAN must be present for the student to receive the vaccine if they choose to get vaccinated. It is not required for students to have the covid vaccine. Vaccinations will take approximately 20-30 minutes per student and students will wait at least 15 minutes after receiving the vaccine before they can leave the student center. Consent forms will be sent home with students and must be returned by August 23, 2021 to your child's school nurse.

Pocahontas Schools to Open August 18th
Pocahontas Public Schools will begin classes Wednesday, August 18, 2021. School will be in session on the regular schedule. School will begin at 7:50 a.m. Dismissal times at Pocahontas Elementary will be 2:55 p.m. for car riders and 3:10 p.m. for bus riders. All other schools within the district will dismiss all students at 3:20 p.m. Buses will attempt to run their regular bus routes. Bus stops and pick-up times may vary depending on the student movement within the
district. Breakfast and lunch will be served beginning the first day of school on August 18.
The 2021-2022 school calendar will be as follows regarding dates when school is not in session:

Fall Break – October 22
Thanksgiving – November 22-26
Christmas – December 20 – December 31
Martin Luther King Day – January 17

In the event more than five-(5) weather days are used during the school year, the calendar will be revisited in order to determine how many remaining days missed are to be rescheduled.

"Parents Make the Difference"
Orientation Night
Pocahontas Public Schools will conduct “Parents Make the Difference” orientation sessions for students/parents
in grades Pre-K-12. These orientations give parents an opportunity to meet with their child’s principal and teacher(s). The sessions are intended to welcome parents and students. The students at High School will also have the opportunity to purchase parking passes at $3.00 each. Students at Junior High will be assigned lockers
with a combination lock at no charge.

If you applied for any BRTC concurrent credit (for AP Lang/Comp, AP Literature, or AP U.S. History) or BRTC online courses for Fall, payment is due by Friday, August 13th. (This does NOT apply to those students in the Career & Technical Center Programs (formerly TOPPS). All payments go directly to BRTC. To check your account balance and make payments, log into your myBRTC account and click on Pay my Bill.

Students, Parents and Guardians,
Throughout the week of August 9th, the Pocahontas High School technology department will be issuing student chromebooks for sophomores, juniors and seniors. Students should report to Mr. Adam Hand's office in the PHS Business Education building during their scheduled time to check out a chromebook. A chromebook policy form will need to be signed by each student and parent before or at pickup. These forms can be found digitally on the Pocahontas School District website: www.pocahontaspsd.com or picked up in the high school office.
Students have been scheduled times alphabetically by their last name and grade level to ensure social distancing and an efficient checkout process. If students are not able to attend during their allotted time, Thursday, August 12th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. will be the make-up day. Any student unable to pick up their chromebook during the week can check out a device on the first day of school.

Class of 2022 Seniors! June 9th & 10th- Summer Senior Composite Pictures… Please check your email to confirm your appointment and/or to reschedule if necessary . It is very important you make your summer appointment as we will only have one retake day in the Fall (September 22nd) . A minimum cap and gown composite picture is required for the yearbook and the composite board. There is a $15 sitting fee. Please pay online at prestigeportraits.com or bring payment the day of in the form of cash or check.

PHS Yearbooks can be picked up in the office during the week from 8:00 - 4:00. Students who did not pre-order can purchase yearbooks for $45 (cash or checks payable to Pocahontas High School) in the office.

GRADUATION will be tonight, Friday May 14th @ Schoonover Stadium @ 8:00 pm. Guests must have a ticket to enter. The photographer will be taking photos as graduates receive their diploma. Order forms are given to seniors at practice and will also be available tonight. Seniors should arrive no later than 7:45 and enter the Math & Science building by way of the study hall entrance. Graduates should go to their assigned classroom upon arrival for line up. Bring a mask.

-Baccalaureate will be Sunday, May 9th at 2:30 at Sutton Free Will Baptist Church. Seniors need to arrive no later than 2:15 with cap and gown. This is Optional. Seniors are NOT required to attend.
-Senior’s Chromebooks/Chargers are to be turned in on Monday, May 10th from 1:00 - 3:00. Students will take their Chromebook to Study Hall area to give to Tech. Also, school Hot Spots need to be turned in if you have one.
GRADES/End of Year Requirements
-Graduation requirements must be met.
-Must pass all required courses and electives.
-Athletic Awards night will be Monday, May 10th, at 6:00 pm in the MDW’s gym. Athletes will be given two tickets for guests because of COVID guidelines.
-Graduation Tickets may be picked up starting Monday, May 10th at 1:00 through Thursday, May 13th at Noon. Tickets need to be picked up in the HS office. After 12 noon on Thursday, any tickets left over will be considered extras. Extra tickets may be picked up May 13th beginning after 12pm. There is a Limit of 5 extra tickets.
-Senior Awards Ceremony will be Tuesday, May 11 at 7:00 in MDW gym. Seniors who are receiving awards will be given an invitation. Tickets for guests are given with the invitation. Social Distancing will be required.
-Graduation Practice for seniors will be Friday, May 14th at 2:00 at the Football Field - Class photo taken at 2:00. - Must bring your cap and gown to be in class photo. Be here no later than 1:50.
-Graduation will be Friday, May 14 at Schoonover Stadium - 8:00 pm. Seniors will have 11 tickets per senior for guests. Guests must have a ticket to enter.
-Seniors should arrive no later than 7:45 to the Math and Science Bldg. - enter at study hall side entrance.
- Seniors, you will be assigned to a classroom upon arrival and will not be allowed to leave that room until we line up.
- BRING YOUR MASKS
-In case of rain, graduation will be moved to the gym. Because of limited seating, the senior class will be divided.
-The class will be divided so seniors may keep the same number of guests’ tickets.
-First graduation will be at 6:30 pm for Seniors A- M.
-Second graduation will be at 8:00 pm for Seniors M- Z.
-We will share with students where the divide will be for the M’s during graduation practice.
-Valedictorians, Salutatorians, and Class President will attend both ceremonies.
- Families will attend the ceremony that the senior graduates.
