Did you know? 📊
Pocahontas School District currently has one of the lowest millage rates among surrounding districts.
Even with the proposed millage increase, our rate would remain competitive with neighboring schools while allowing us to build safer, more modern learning environments for our students.
An investment in education is an investment in our community’s future.

Mrs. Blalock, Mrs. Hudson, Mrs. Huffman, and Mrs. Vickery took a group of high school students to Lake Charles State Park to help clean up trash and debris around the park. 🌳🗑️

🧪 Hands-on learning in Mrs. Vickrey’s Honors Biology class!
Students have been studying the properties of the cell membrane and how it controls what enters and leaves the cell. To make this concept come to life, they used bubble solution to mimic the structure and behavior of the cell membrane — exploring its unique properties through fun, interactive activities.

A new high school isn’t just about classrooms—it’s about creating a campus where students can learn and grow in a secure, modern environment. From updated security systems to improved building design, the 2025 Millage Campaign ensures safety is built into the foundation of our future.
Because when students feel safe, they can focus on what matters most—learning. ❤️🖤

🧠 It was all about the brain this week in Ms. Kyla Hudson’s AP Psychology classes! Students created Play-Doh brainstem models and took advantage of the great weather to head outside and draw the brain’s lobes with chalk.
Fun fact: AP Psychology is brand new to Pocahontas High School this year — and we’re loving it so far! ❤️🖤

This school year, all students have access to free school breakfast thanks to the new “Breakfast for All” legislation. 🎉
We hope to see even more students taking advantage of this opportunity to start their school day with a healthy meal — fueling their focus, energy, and success in the classroom.
A great day of learning starts with a great breakfast — and now it’s at no cost to families. ❤️🖤🤍

🙌 Our PHS Key Club members attended the local Kiwanis weekly meeting, where they had the opportunity to hear from State Representative Jeremy Wooldridge on the importance of community action. 🇺🇸✨ Students in attendance (left to right): Saige Sparks, Jacalyn Chester, Makenzie Adams, and Mallory Broadway. ❤️🖤
We’re proud of these students for representing our school and engaging in meaningful conversations about leadership and service!

🏫 Building a More Accessible Future 🏫
Right now, our current high school building has three sets of stairs and is not ADA accessible. For students with disabilities, this creates barriers that make learning and daily routines much more difficult.
With the 2025 Millage Campaign, a new high school would provide modern, ADA-compliant facilities—ensuring every student has equal access to classrooms, resources, and opportunities.
Accessibility isn’t just a convenience; it’s a necessity. Together, we can create a school where all students can learn, grow, and succeed. ❤️🖤

Leading by example...
Our high school principal, Mr. Christian Helms, takes time out of his day to step into the classroom and provide math instruction during Redskin Time. ✨
We’re grateful for leaders who don’t just guide from the office but also jump in alongside students and teachers to support learning. ❤️🖤

Moments that matter most…
Administrator, Craig Green, took time out of his day to encourage and play catch with a young student learning to throw a football. 🏈
It’s these simple acts of connection that remind us what education is all about—building relationships and supporting kids every step of the way. ❤️🖤
