Our Senior Advisory Council met last week, providing an opportunity for students to share their perspectives, ideas, and feedback on important topics impacting our school.

These conversations reflect our commitment to listening to student voice and valuing their role in shaping a positive school culture. We appreciate our seniors for speaking up, engaging thoughtfully, and helping move our school forward.

🎉❤️ A New Student-Powered Initiative at PHS! ❤️🎉 We are excited to introduce the Redskin Rest Stop! The Redskin Rest Stop is a student-run shop that provides a convenient place for staff to grab snacks and drinks throughout the day. This initiative gives students valuable, hands-on experience in customer service, money handling, stocking, and organization while applying real-world skills in an authentic setting. 👏 Thank you to our dedicated staff for supporting this project and to our students for their hard work in bringing it to life. We’re proud of the teamwork and innovation that make opportunities like this possible at PHS! ❤️

Pocahontas High School will host an Academic Assembly this Friday, Jan. 16 at 8:45 AM in the high school gymnasium.

During the assembly, we will celebrate:
🏅 Character Trait Award nominees
📚 All A’s and A/B Honor Roll students
🎓 Senior Academic Award recipients
✅ Perfect Attendance

We look forward to recognizing the hard work and dedication of our students!

📌 Parent Notice – 10th Grade BMI Screening

In the coming weeks, the school nurse will begin BMI screenings for 10th grade students.
If you do not want your child to be screened, a written note must be turned in to the nurse by February 1, 2026.

Today we’re celebrating Allison Swann, our Career Coach, for the meaningful role she plays in helping students explore career options, set goals, and prepare for life after graduation. We’re grateful for her dedication and the positive impact she has on our students every day! 💼✨

Pocahontas School District students in grades 5–12 are invited to be part of our Redskins Shooting Team! No experience is required—beginners are welcome. Students will learn trap shooting in a safe, supervised environment while building skills in safety, focus, responsibility, and teamwork. Participants will also have opportunities to practice, compete, and participate in local and state events.

Our Pocahontas High School cheerleaders spent time reading to our third graders, and it was such a special experience for everyone involved. We love seeing our older students serving as role models and building connections with our younger learners!📚📣 Moments like these make our school community so special.❤️

🎄✨ FFA Christmas Party ✨🎄 FFA members came together to celebrate the season with a festive Christmas party full of fun, laughter, and holiday cheer.

Last week, NHS members gathered during lunch to wrap gifts that will help provide Christmas for 8 elementary students, including clothing, shoes, coats, and toys. A meaningful reminder of the impact of kindness and service. 🎁❤️

Students in our Food Safety and Nutrition classes spread some holiday cheer by baking Christmas sugar cookies! 🎄🍪 They’re excited to take their new skills home for the holidays.
