PJHS homecoming dance is planned and hosted by the PJHS Student Council. Dances are for PJHS students in 7th, 8th and 9th grades. Students from other schools, including the high school or elementary schools are not allowed. All school rules apply to school dances. The dance will be held from 8-10pm in the PJHS cafeteria.
Our responsibility for each student is taken very seriously at school dances. We want dances to be fun in a safe and comfortable environment. With this in mind, it is important that all students know and follow the guidelines below.
1. The dance ends at 10:00pm and all students should have advance plans for transportation home after the dance.
2. Students are expected to behave in ways consistent with all PJHS policies.
3. Be respectful with appropriate dancing only. No grinding or provocative dance moves, with or without physical contact.
4. Public displays of affection are not allowed.
5. Snacks may be purchased in the student center. All food and drinks will be kept in the student center and not allowed in the cafeteria.
6. The restrooms by the cafeteria will be available (one student at a time).
7. Once students leave the dance, they may not re-enter.
8. Students are expected to leave PJHS immediately after the end of the dance. Parents picking up their child should be there no later than 10:00pm. Students that are in Student Council are expected to help clean up after the dance from 10-10:30pm.
Please note that an SRO is always on site for PJHS dances.
Admittance to the Dance
In order to attend the dance:
1. Students must purchase a ticket in advance. Tickets will not be sold at the door. Tickets will be on sale before school and during lunch during homecoming week. Tickets are $5 each (cash only).
2. Students will be given an armband during school on Friday. Students must have their armband on to enter the dance.
3. Students will sign a form saying they agree to follow all school rules, including dress code, at the dance.
Dress Code Expectations
The following guidelines should aid parents and members in selecting the proper attire for the dance. Students who do not follow the dress code will not be allowed to enter the dance. We follow the Pocahontas Junior High School's dress code.
1. Sleeveless top and dress straps must be at least two fingers wide.
2. No midriff showing, halter/tank tops, spaghetti straps, or see-through shirts.
3. Shorts and skirts must be of sufficient length. Sufficient length is defined as six inches above the knee (length of a dollar bill) or at a length in which the longest finger does not touch skin while the arms rest naturally at one’s side.
4. Shoes must be worn at all times.
5. Clothing that displays tobacco, drugs, alcohol, obscenities, or sexual innuendos are unacceptable.
6. No hats, hoods, or sunglasses on inside the building.
Refund Policy
If a refund is requested, there will be a form the guardian will complete. The deadline for submitting the refund request will be three business days following the event. The refund will be in the form of a school check and should be cashed within 30 days.
Thank you for helping us keep this a positive experience for all students and staff!

🌟 WEEK THREE: Connection Leads to Compassion 🌟
This week, our students are diving into a powerful lesson on compassion and what it means to connect with others. Teenagers naturally go through a stage of self-focus as they navigate emotional growth. But connection—both online and IRL—helps them become more aware of the needs around them and gives them the confidence to step up and make a difference.
We’re exploring how empathy can inspire action through some incredible art prompts! 🎨💬
🖍️ Art Prompts:
-Draw someone working toward a cause you care about.
-Draw a school full of compassion.
By reflecting on these topics, students are learning how their actions can have a positive impact on others. When we connect deeply, we care deeply—and that's where true compassion starts. 💛
